Research in to Digipaks and Posters

From what I have research I can say that the Digipaks and Posters for bands are always very strongly linked. They tend to use the exact same photo or one that is very similar.

Here are a few examples…

Muse- The 2 nd Law

Here you can see that muse have used the exact same picture for both the Digipak and Poster. I really like the simple cover that muse have done. I want to use a similar idea of simplicity for mine so that it doesn’t become too crowded. I think having a simple design means that it will be more memorable for the audience.

Green Day- American Idiot

Again Green Day have used the same image for both the poster and the Digipak cover. Even though this is a simple cover it promotes a valuable message. The idea of the heart shaped grenade emphasises how many lives war can take. Also the title suggests that sometimes as country’s we can be stupid.

Royal Blood

Royal blood haven’t use the exact same image but they have used very similar ones.

I think the bands use similar images so that their audience can easily recognise if the poster or Digipak is the band they like. The images they use are very imaginative. Although I’m not going to use artistic images like this I like the way you have to actually study the covers to understand them better.
