REDUNDANCY OPTIONS CONTROL/PROTECTION FUNCTIONS

The RTX Power offers state-of-art equipment for both new and retrofit hydro, coal, nuclear or natural gas fired power plants.

The RTX Power is also compatible with all major generator OEMs, such as, GE, Westinghouse, Siemens, BBC, Alstom, Mitsubishi, Hitachi, Allis Chalmers etc.

The hardware and software of the system can be customized to meet specific functionality and can be scaled up to an output of 10,000 Adc.

Reivax powerful processor unit and open software architecture used in the RTX Power can also be scaled up to include more functionality, such as, governor control and a complete automation package for control / protection of the generator unit.

Reivax has been supplying excitation systems to the power generation industry for 25 years and has currently more than 1,100 systems in operation. Replacements include GE Alterex / Althyrex / Amplidyne, Westinghouse WTA / WMA / MGR, Allis Chalmers Regulex, etc.

Assembled in standard Rittal cabinets, the basic system offers:- Voltage regulator (CPX) with an Automatic and a Manual channel;- Fast I/O interface (MultiCan) with 48 digital inputs, 24 digital outputs, 12 analog outputs, 8 analog inputs, 3 PT inputs and 3 CT inputs;- An air-cooled six (6) pulse thyristor bridge and a firing circuit (DPCan).

The DPCan is equipped with its own CPU and I/O (16 digital in, 8 digital out and 6 analog in) for logic, monitoring and protection of thyristor bridges;- A user friendly graphical HMI touch screen (PAN);- Each printed circuit board (PCB) is enclosed in a metal chassis in order to meet the most stringent requirements for Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI).

The RTX Power offers the most redundancy options of all systems on the market today. The reliable basic system can be combined with the following redundancy options for additional reliability and availability:

- Redundant Voltage regulator (CPX) each with an Automatic and a Manual channel. System performance is monitored by a built-in watchdog in each CPX. Transfer to redundant CPX is bumpless;- Redundant I/O interface (MultiCan) including redundant control terminal blocks and wiring from incoming customer termination. The I/O interface can be expanded to increase the number of I/O points;- Redundant thyristor bridges with enhanced control interface redundancy to enable CPX I or II to operate with either thyristor bridge;- Redundant cooling fans for each thyristor bridge. Each thyristor bridge is enabled with independant conduction and temperature monitornig etc. On-line maintenance of thyristor bridges is also available;- On-line maintenance can be performed on controls and thyristor bridge assembles while the redundant system is in operation.

HUMAN MACHINE INTERFACE (HMI)

The RTX Power has two interfaces for operation and setting of parameters:

- HMI alphanumeric (CPX)

- HMI graphic touchscreen (PAN)

RTX POWER

The Graphical HMI touch-screen (PAN) comes with a 15 screen for operation, monitoring and diagnostics. It has its own CPU and is equipped with different levels of password protection. The software for the panel can also be loaded on a laptop PC. The following main screens are available:- Operation;- Sequence Of Events (SOE);- Data logging;- Trending;- Meetering;- Simulator;- Capability curve with limiters;- Parameter settings for AVR, limiterand PSS transfer functions.

Sequence of events (SOE)

The Sequence of event function allows the user to record events with a 1ms sampling rate. The register holds 3,000 events. As new events are being added, the oldest ones will be overwritten.

The internal clock of the MultiCan provides the time stamp. The clock can be synchronized by satellite.Datalogging

The function can record 20 users defined signals based on a user selectable trigger signal. Recording window is selectable and could be both pre- and post- trigger. The information is saved and can later be viewed in either graphic or table format.

Simulator

The simulator software allows the user to verify any changes done to the system prior to downloading the parameters to the machine.

On-line parameter viewing

The software allows the user to view values of each input and output of a function block in order to validate logic changes in the software.

Reivax understands the importance of having access to qualified service personnel, whether it is during the installation and commissioning period or as emergency service throughout the life of the equipment. Reivax has tailored its services based on 15 years knowledge of North American customer requirements.

Reivax provides customer training either at a Reivax location or at the customer site.The training includes courses for operators on how to operate the system as well as for engineers and technicians on how to troubleshoot the system in case of a fault.

NERC compliance testing is becoming a more common requirement in the industry as NERC needs to know the capability of generating plants and the anticipated performance during steady state and fault conditions.Reivax offers on-site services, compiling of measured data and excitation modeling for submittal in a report to NERC.

Reivax provides PSS setting analysis based on modeling and simulation, on-site tuning of PSS parameters and final documentation for submission as per NERC dynamic modeling requirements.

As the original warranty expires, Reivax offers the customers further peace of mind, by providing an extended warranty option.The extended warranty is normally accompanied with a scheduled tune-up service.

In addition to services related to providing a turn-key project, Reivax also provides all related equipment, such as, excitation transformer, iso-phase bus duct, non-segregated bus duct, cables, slip ring/brush assembly, bearing /pedestal modifications etc.

Spare parts inventory exists in both the US and Canada, thus avoiding customs delays. Spare parts are shipped the same day of order.

Even though todays excitation systems requires very little maintenance, Reivax recommends periodic maintenance to be scheduled in order to maintain the original state of the equipment.

Reivax maintains a 24/7 hotline for emergency support in order to respond to critical situations. Field personnel are available from three (3) service location in US / Canada.

Reivax will work with local installation contractors. Installation supervision and start-up service will be provided by a Reivax service engineer.

Services such as, red marking of existing plant schematics, lay-out drawings, wiring diagrams, tray/cable schedules are provided in order to make the transition to the new excitation system as smooth as possible.
