Principal’s News Continued 2020 Grandfriends' DayThis is always a very special day for our families at Neutral Bay Public School. It is usually held around Easter when our grandfriends are treated to an entertaining concert, welcomed into their grandchild’s classroom and treated to a delicious morning tea.

I’m aware that some of our kind and generous grandfriends are supervising their grandchildren’s learning from home during this challenging period. We love hearing from members of our community so if you have any delightful tales to share, please send the school an email. We received this email on Monday:

Dear Mrs Goodsell

I would just like to take this opportunity to thank you and all the incredible teachers and support staff who have worked so hard to make the student’s education continue during these challenging times.

You are all amazing.

Two of my children attended Neutral Bay Primary School and now my grandson is at the school.

I am in the support role for my grandson’s Learning From Home and we have just about eased into the New Way.

I love being an almost student alongside my grandson. I am committed to do my very best in encouraging my grandson to do his best.

(Name withheld)

We wish all our grandfriends a Happy Easter and look forward to welcoming everyone to our rescheduled Grandfriends’ Day later in the school year.

Neutral Bay Public School Learning from Home HubAt NBPS we have focused on delivering quality online learning to our K-6 students. We are excited that our Learning Hub has been launched as a gateway to learning from home. We are posting additional support documents daily, so I invite you to visit

https://neutralbaypshub.weebly.com/

Learning from Home Resource PacksWe are preparing resource packs for K-2 students to use in their lessons at home. The packs will be available from the school at the beginning of Term 2.

NAPLANPlease note that the 2020 NAPLAN tests usually held in Term 2 have been cancelled this year.

School HolidaysTerm 1 concludes this Thursday 9 April. Please note that Monday 27 April is a Staff Development Day where all teachers will be participating in online professional development. Current school operations will resume on Tuesday 28 April for Term 2.

I trust our wonderful teaching and non-teaching staff enjoy the opportunity to rest and relax.

Thank you to our parents/carers for your generous support of the school during this challenging term and I wish everyone a happy Easter and a safe, relaxing holiday.

School News A special thank you as well to Mr Knight, for acting as the Neutral Bay PS team manager on the day, whilst Mr Kessler and I were officials. Unfortunately, the Regional carnival has been indefinitely postponed. We will keep the students informed in case the carnival is able to be held later in the year.

Mr W. MacInnes - Year 6 Grade Leader

We are pleased to have continued with our weekly Band and Orchestra programs via Zoom. Parents using Zoom service should be familiar with its Terms of Service https://zoom.us/terms . Please be mindful that students under the age of 18 should not go to www.zoom.us to create an account because:

i. They should only be joining Zoom meeting sessions as participants (not separate account holders) through the School Subscriber’s account and

ii. Minors are not permitted to create an account per Zoom’s Terms of Service. The Band and Orchestra programs DO NOT fall under the School Subscriber’s account and therefore, we would require Parental Consent to use Zoom for Band and Orchestra programs. Parental consent forms will be provided to Band parents this week.

We would like to thank students, parents, staff and the wider community for its on-going support throughout the unprecedented challenges. We are very fortunate to have such dedicated and professional teaching and administration staff at Neutral Bay Public School who continue to keep the School operating on site and online. We appreciate all the hard work and the new initiatives rolled out by the School for the benefit of keeping our children busy and occupied with School work at home. We would also like to acknowledge the work of Neutral Bay Public School Before and After School Care for remaining open to care for our students.

We wish everyone a safe and happy Easter & to enjoy the upcoming School holidays and Lest we Forget for Anzac Day
