School travel 2017 Application information Nov 2016

Information for parents, guardians and students Our school has partnered with Transport for NSW to use the new online process for you to submit school travel applications. This means we will be able to process your applications online, making it easier and faster for parents, guardians and students to apply for school travel.

Applications for school travel in 2017 are now open, including for travel to Mascot and Green Square station and for private ferries. Parents, guardians and students are encouraged to apply as soon as they are able via:

Applications for 2017 school travel are now open via www.transportnsw.info/school-students

A new application is required when:

applying for a School Opal card or travel pass for the first time, enrolling in Kindergarten, or requesting an additional entitlement as a result of a shared parental

responsibility situation.

You will need to do an update application if the student has a current school travel pass and:

is progressing from Year 2 to Year 3, is progressing from Year 6 to Year 7, or changes address, or changes school or campus.

Already have a School Opal card or travel pass?

When you’ve updated, and you are eligible for free school travel next year, Transport for NSW will send you an email confirmation once your application has been processed. For travel in rural or regional NSW, we’ll also inform your nominated transport operator(s).

If you already have a School Opal card that does not need updating, or you’ve successfully re-applied, the Opal card will automatically be updated for travel next year. Do not throw it out as you’ll be able to use it when the school year starts in 2017.

If you currently have a printed travel pass provided by your transport operator, a new pass will be will be ready at the beginning of the new school year.

Sports NewsPSSA T-BALL Round 7 Results

Stars of the Week

Congratulations to Jack May (6P) who received his Junior Black Belt in Karate/JuJitsu yesterday 6 years after he started martial arts.

Congratulations to Naomi Peace (5K) whose Acro Trio placed 1st in NSW State Championships Level 2!

Neutral Bay 1Captain: Nick McPherson 6KToday Neutral Bay 1 played a great game against

Cammeray 2. Cammeray played very well. We played very safe T-Ball, with Ethan as man of our match and playing his best game yet. The end score was 26 to 8 our way. On behalf of our team we would like to thank Jack Coombs for coming and helping out.

Neutral Bay 2Captain: Anneke Corry 5TNeutral Bay 2 played against Middle Harbour 2. It was a great game for Neutral Bay for their last game of T-Ball for the year. The score was 28 to 10 to Neutral Bay. The player of the match was Xavier in 5R who batted and fielded well.

Neutral Bay 3Captain: Ruaraidh Kennedy 6KThis week was the last game of the season and Neutral Bay 3 have improved dramatically. This week we played North Sydney Dem 3 and won 22-14. We did well in fielding, getting 2 double plays. Batting could still be improved. Player of the match goes to Justin Setiadi for his consistent effort throughout the season.

Neutral Bay 4Captain: Katie Wightwick 6KNeutral Bay 4 played terrifically well beating the other team, Artarmon 5, by 15 points. The overall score was 11 to 26. We had an amazing season winning the majority of our games. Our strength today was our batting and our communication, support and sportsmanship. As captain for the game, I chose Charlie Rowley to be the player of the match for his great sportsmanship, support of other players and awesome playing. Our team played excellently in the T-Ball season. I would like to thank Miss Remenyi for coaching us this season, and all the other teachers for organising it.

Neutral Bay 5Captain: Lauren Watts 5SWOW! What a great season we have had! From the first day to the last, we have kept our positivity the whole year. Today we won 34-3 versing Cammeray 3. I could not choose between Adie and Daisy for person of the match. They both were very respectful of decisions made and played well.

Neutral Bay 6Captain: Zetian Ren 5TToday at T-Ball we played against Cammeray 4. It was a good and close game. The score was 11-23 to Neutral Bay 6. I think our team should improve on not over-throwing. We had three innings. In the first innings we

Sports Newswere very good at batting. However, we dropped quite a lot of catches. In the second innings we got all the people who batted out. This meant they got zero runs! In the final iunnings we got a lot of runs and played well, even though we did a lot of over-throwing. The player of the match goes to Oscar. He was the first batter and was fielding on first base. He caught a lot of balls. Overall Neutral Bay 6 had a very good game.

Mrs M Catherin & Miss R Callanan - KHC Teachers

KHC have had a busy couple of weeks. They have all graduated now and are looking forward to starting Year 1. They have been playing with their buddies in the big school and getting familiar with their new play spaces for next year. We are all very excited for Christmas and the new adventures to come in Year 1.

As year comes to an end, Year One have been reflecting on their year. Some have described it as brilliant, some have even said it was a fun as a fun fair! The Year One teachers have had a fantastic year with all the students and are proud of each of their achievements.

Thank you to all the parents for coming along to our Assembly last week. All the students performed beautifully and it was a wonderful way to celebrate a great year.

We look forward to the last week with Year One.

3J have turned into Engineers this week! We were given the challenge to design and build a house/shelter made out of Lego. The problem was we could only use the 50 pieces that were allocated to us! Before we started, we learnt about the Engineering Design Process which we had to follow. It involves Asking; Imagining; Planning; Creating and Improving. In our engineering groups we brainstormed ideas and drew a blueprint of our house. Then we built it with the Lego. It was a valuable teamwork experience as we had to cooperate and communicate effectively as a team. Take a look at some of our constructions.

End of Year Band ConcertThe band program celebrated a fantastic year of music at our end of year concert on Sunday afternoon. From Junior Band’s amazing performance of Somewhere Over the Rainbow to Senior Band’s polished execution of Pirates of the Caribbean; from Concert Band’s

marching rendition of Uptown Funk to Reunion Band’s amazing soloists the audience was thoroughly entertained. It was wonderful to have so many high school students come back to play with the Reunion Band and signifies the amazing band community we have here at Neutral Bay which continues after primary school has finished.

We thank all the family and friends who came to watch and support our fine musicians perform.

Many thanks also to all the parents who ferried the many car loads of band equipment to and from the venue to make the concert possible.
