Good Luck Rosa Pizzinga!

Outstanding results from the four students who competed; Anita Z (6C) came 33rd, Joe S (4S) came 23rd, Eamon C (3K) came 11th and Oliver F (6B) came 9th. We are extremely proud of their achievements.Girls Knockout SoccerLast Friday 22 June the Girls Knockout Soccer team competed at Cammeray Oval against Artarmon PS and won 3-2. An outstanding result for the girls, well done. The Combined State Knockout team are playing today at Harbord Park against Harbord PS. We wish them all the very best and look forward to hearing about the match.Crazy Hair DayThe SRC will be holding a Crazy Hair Day on Tuesday 3 July. After working as a casual/temporary officer, Rosa’s permanent appointment to Neutral Bay Public School began in January 1990. On 11 May this year, Rosa officially retired having worked tirelessly and devotedly for the many students, parents and staff members at Neutral Bay. Her early years of service were long before computers and apps. One had log books, carbon paper, stencils, a telephone rolodex and in Rosa’s case an outstanding memory. She could recall students’ names, classes, parents and teachers quicker than a computer.

Rosa always had a friendly smile and nothing was ever too much for her. She attended Year 6 graduations, helped at the School Carnival and looked after the staff. She was an amazing cook and staff members were lucky enough to eat her homemade cannoli and handmade chocolates. Expectant staff members were given hand embroidered baby singlets.

Rosa missed her calling as a doctor. When an injured child came to first aid Rosa could always determine if it was a broken bone or a sprain before the child had gone to the doctor.

On behalf of all the students, families and staff over the many years of your service to the school, we thank you for your kindness, dedication, hard work and wonderful smile. We wish you all the best for your retirement.

Netball Sports ReportB Team The ball circles around the hoop, the hopeful faces transfixed on the ball. It sadly went out, Neutral Bay lost 3-15 against Greenwich Public School. I think we need to work on contact and getting on our player. The player of the match was Claire W from 6B because she always had a smile on her face and was always good at getting the ball.Written by Elikaa K 6C

C1 Team The whistle blew. Mosman Public started off with a pass to their GA. The Neutral Bay C1 team versed Mosman Public in another great game of netball that ended in a tie. We were very good at our passing along the court. We were also very good at defending and jumping up in the air and catching the ball from our opponent. I feel that we need to work on trying to steal the ball from our opponents. The player of the match this week was Tia B in 6K. She was an excellent centre and played extraordinarily.Written by Gianna U 6S

C2 TeamCentre stepped into the circle. The whistle blew, and Greenwich had a strong pass to their GA. Today, C2 team played Greenwich and we won 6-3. Even though we won we can work on stepping and strong passing. Today, the player of the match was Litia T from 6B as she had marked her player well. Written by Sally M 5R

D Team Footsteps echoed as the nervous players raced around the court. The ball was confidently caught by one player after another, flying towards the goal circle. The question playing on everyone’s mind was “Who was going to win?” Today the D team played Anzac Park with the final score was 2-26, their way. They played a very good match and deserved the win. We were great at shooting when we had the ball but need to work on defending our players. The player of the match is Annie Z 6B, because she was always ready to catch the rebounds.Written by Emma B 6B

E Team“Beep”. Isabella A (6K) threw the ball to Sophie F (5M). Sophie threw the ball but it was intercepted by the other team. Lane Cove shot the ball, but luckily for us they missed and Caitlin M (5R) got the rebound. It was a very close game, with Lane Cove winning 4-3. The player of the match goes to Caitlin M (5R) for her great defending. Written by Anna P (5R)

Boys’ Team Today Neutral Bay played a great match against Middle Harbour in the first half, as a friendly, and Artarmon for the second half. In the end, we won 4-0 to Middle Harbour and 5-0 to Artarmon. Sunny scored 1 goal, Dylan scored 3 and Tom scored 1. I chose Ziyue C (5M) as player of the match as he played great defence against Artarmon and was good at finding space. Written by Sam J (6K)

Mrs J. Hudson - 2H Class TeacherMrs M. Dudley - KD Class Teacher

In Kindergarten we have been continuing to learn about the weather. This past week we have been able to watch some wild weather when it rained heavily last Tuesday and the wind was strong. Kindergarten students have been learning to describe the sky, temperature and wind when writing weather reports. This week we used wind meters to see how strong the wind was. Unfortunately, after the strong wind earlier in the week, there was just a very gentle breeze that barely moved the materials on our wind meters. However, it was still fun!

Year 2 have been learning about 2D shapes this week. 2H went on a shape hunt around the school. They took photos of shapes, labelled them, and drew on the lines of symmetry and parallel lines.

Miss C. Dauth - 4D Class Teacher Miss I. Blackie - 5B Class Teacher

5B have been practising their sketching during art this term. Last week they focused on drawing their eyes, but with a twist. There is a famous proverb that says ‘the eyes are the mirror of the soul’. 5B worked hard to reflect this proverb in their artworks. Their eyes incorporate objects which represent their interests, dreams and identity. Lots of the eyes feature places, flags, sport, nature and animals (lots of cats). Which symbols can you spot below?

Year 3 have been learning about fractions with a range of hands-on activities and games. We have been plotting fractions and mixed numbers on a number line. We have used concrete materials such as play dough, shapes and folding paper to develop our understanding of fraction walls and the value of fractions.

3B have created some colourful and vibrant artworks inspired by the Brazilian artist, Romero Britto. We used geometric patterns and bright colours in a fractured perspective. We are very happy with the result!
