CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

N-KOM together with its partners Nakilat and Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar(NDSQ), held a successful beach clean-up on 24 March 2016 at the Northern Beachin Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLC). Some 250 volunteers from the three companiesparticipated in the annual activity co-organized together with Qatar Petroleum'sIndustrial Cities Directorate and Ras Laffan's HSSE department.

The beach clean-up which comes as part of the company’s corporate socialresponsibility programme, aims to provide a clean and safe coastal environmentahead of the Hawksbill turtle nesting season. Marine life, especially the endangeredHawksbill turtle in the area, is vulnerable to the harmful effects brought about bycoastal pollution as it favours coastlines where sponges are abundant and sandynesting sites are within reach.

N-KOM’s General Manager (Operations) Mr Allen Felix said, “The shipyard is

dependent on the sea for most of its operations and as such, we strive to operate in a

responsible manner in line with our belief that environmental care is for a better

tomorrow. This beach clean-up is not only significant in creating a sustainable

environment for marine life to live and breed in but also, to spread awareness

amongst our employees on the importance of preserving biodiversity for generations

to come.”
