Definitions

Genre - The different ‘types’ of music.

Sub-Genre – This is a type of music within a genre.

Hybrid – This is where two or more genres of music are merged together .

My Genre

The genre that I have chosen to do is pop.

There are many artists in the pop genre. For example, One Direction, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift.There are also many sub-genres. For example, electropop and bubblegum pop.

My Sub-genre

There are also many sub-genres. For example, electropop and bubblegum pop.

Examples of artists in subgenres of pop would be artists such as, Adele, Lady Gaga and The Ting Tings.

My Hybrids

There are many hybrids which include the genre pop. For example, Pop-Rock and Pop-Punk. Artists in these would be. Mumford and Sons and Blink-182

My Music Video

The music video that I will be making will be to the song ‘Thrift Shop’ by Macklemore.

Other songs by Macklemore consist of, ‘Can’t Hold Us’, ‘Same Love’ and ‘Downtown’.

What Video Am I Going To Make?

The style of my music video will be a narrative. In my video I will be wearing the same clothing that Macklemore wore in the original to help the narrative and performance based.

Mise-En-Scene

Costume – The costume that will be worn in the video by the main character will be similar to the original jacket worn by Macklemore in his music video. This is to keep the narrative similar in the story. The other clothes will just be casual.

Hair/Make up – Although there will be no makeup up involved, the main character hair will be fully gelled back. I will do this to keep to the narrative and make the main character look street and casual.

Props – The props I will use will be some pieces of paper with certain objects on, a skateboard and possibly some other props based in the song instead.

Characters/Actors – My main character will be similar to the original, where Macklemore is the only main character and he is rapping to the lyrics while telling the narrative in the video.

Settings/Locations – The location in which I will be filming this music video will be at a bright abandoned factory because it is isolated so there will be no interruptions.
