CHURCH SOFTBALL NEWS Last Saturday’s game against Herrickville Wesleyan was cancelled to due to rain. There will be no games next weekend (4th of July). Our game on Saturday, July 11th will be against Towanda Assembly of God and will be held at the Masonite Field at 6:30PM. Everyone is welcome to attend any of our games.

BUS TRIP TO PHILADELPHIA TO SEE POPE FRANCIS We have one bus full and have secured a second bus. We have room on the second bus for (3) more people. Please call the Rectory (570-553-2288) as soon as possible if you would like to attend. Please feel free to invite friends from outside the Parish to attend so that we can fill the bus! The date is Sunday, Sep-tember 27th.

We just found out this week that the city of Philadelphia is charging $ 395.00 per bus for parking permits. We must pay a total of $ 790.00 dollars for permits for our two busses. Because of this, the cost per person has to increase by $ 10.00 to $ 50.00 per person. We are very sorry for this added expense, but it is a must. Meals are extra. (Or you can bring a brown bag lunch.) You may begin paying at any time. Please make checks payable to St. Brigid Parish and place them in the collection basket or mail to the Rectory. Please also note who each check will be paying for.

HALF DAY RETREAT TO BE HELD AT ST. AUGUSTINE CHURCH A Half Day Retreat will be held at St. Augustine Church, on Saturday, October 3rd, from 9:00AM to 1:00PM. The Retreat Leader will be Marilee Beyer. The topic will be Our Blessed Mother. The Day will open at 9:00AM with Mass celebrated by Fr. Cas, Followed by a Lesson, Stations of the Cross as seen through the eyes of Mary, the Mother of Jesus (Stations will be outside if weather permits), Meditation, small group discussions, snacks, and time for sharing. Closing will be at 12:30PM with Exposition of the Holy Eucharist done by Deacon Ken Brennan. Please bring your own chair and snacks. The Retreat is open to everyone.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY BOUTIQUE There will be a Christmas in July Boutique on Saturday, July 11th, from 9AM to 3PM at the Field Day Grounds in Silver Lake Township. The sale is sponsored by the Silver Lake Ladies Club and all proceeds will benefit The Food Pantry. Come shop at the boutique and find unique, locally handcrafted items for early Christmas gifts, hostess gifts, and perhaps something for yourself.

MASS IN REMEMBRANCE OF VICTIMS OF VIOLENT OR TRAGIC DEATH The Diocese of Scranton is offering the annual Mass in remembrance of victims of violent or tragic death. This Mass is offered for the families and friends of those who have died in tragedy, especially through murder, suicide, and accident. Mass is scheduled for Thursday, July 16th at 7:00PM in Saint Peter's Cathedral, 315 Wyoming Avenue, Scranton. All persons who have lost a loved one through tragic and traumatic death are invited to this liturgy. We ask that the names of deceased loved ones are registered on registration forms which are available in the parish office or accessed on the Service and Social Concerns webpage on the Diocese of Scranton’s website, www.dioceseofscranton.org. Questions may be directed to the Office for Parish Life at 570-207-2213.

CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC RENEWAL CONFERENCE Our Diocesan Catholic Charismatic Renewal is sponsoring its 33rd annual conference at the University of Scranton on the weekend of July 31-August 1. This year’s theme is: “Father That They May be One Jn. 17:21” and we will focus on unity in diversity reflecting on the call of Pope Francis, “Building the unity of the Church is the task of every Christian.” The Conference will feature a variety of inspiring speakers and uplifting music. Mass is celebrated each afternoon. A well-stocked book/gift store will be available. Separate tracks for Children and Youth are also available. The full-weekend Registration Fee is $50 before July 17 and $65 after July 17. Single-day registration is also available. Commuting and brown-bagging is encouraged, while dormitory housing and cafeteria meals are available at a moderate cost. DIOCESAN COUNCIL OF CATHOLIC WOMEN—DAY OF REFLECTION The Scranton Diocesan Council of Catholic Women will conduct a Day of Reflection on Wednesday, August 5, at The Villa of Our Lady Retreat House, 245 Meadowside Road, Mount Pocono, PA. Monsignor Vincent Grimalia, Chaplain of St. Luke’s Villa will conduct the retreat. The topic is “Devotion to the Blessed Mother.” The retreat will begin at 8:00AM and will end by 3:00PM. A continental breakfast and luncheon will be served. The cost is $35.00. All Catholic women are invited to attend.
