Built in the 1660s and once the most luxuriously decorated in Isfahan, the interior of the small Hasht Behesht Palace (Hasht Behesht means 8 paradises in Farsi) has been extensively damaged over the years.

Located in the center of the Garden of Nightingales (the Bagh-e Bulbul), the Hasht Behesht is one of Isfahan's two surviving Safavid pavilions.

The Hasht Behesht was restored by IsMEO - Istituto Italiano per il Medio ed Estremo Oriente. The project, completed in 1977, received an Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 1980.

Palatul celor opt Paradisuri a fost restaurat de IsMEO – Institutul Italian pentru Orientul Mijlociu şi Extremul Orient. Proiectul, finalizat în 1977, a obţinut în anul 1980 Premiul Agha Khan pentru Arhitectură

'Hasht Behesht' translates as 'Eight Paradises' and refers to a Timurid palace building type consisting of two stories of four corner rooms around a central domed space.

Palatul Hasht Behesht , în traducere Palatul celor opt Paradisuri, este un palat Timurid cu două nivele având câte patru camere pe colţuri, în jurul unui dom central.

In Isfahan, the corner rooms are octagonal, forming massive pillars that define four large openings leading to large porches in the south, east and west, and an iwan in the north.

În Esfahan camerele de colţ sunt octogonale formând stâlpi masivi ce definesc patru mari deschideri care duc la pridvoare largi în părţile de sud, est şi vest şi la un iwan în partea de nord (iwanul este o încăpere patrată, boltită având o intrare foarte largă în forma de portal - plan preluat de la construcţiile sassanide).

The vault of the central space is detailed with polychrome muqarnas and is capped with a lantern. The openness of the pavilion to the exterior, with large open archways and the top-lit domed space, is enhanced with a fountain positioned under the dome.
