PROFILE: The High Speed Two rail network will bring the UK’s Victorian railway infrastructure dramatically into the 21st century, creating space on crowded lines, and bringing the whole country closer together. HS2 Limited was formed in 2009 in order to deliver this vision for the UK economy. The project will be carried out in two phases, ultimately linking London to Leeds and Manchester on high-speed lines. Speeds of up to 400kph will be possible when the line is built.PARTNERSHIP: New partnershipCONTACT DETAILS: For contact details, please call Flexiform on 01274 706206

HS2 needed to relocate their main London HQ from Eland House in Central London. The decision was taken to occupy two and a half floors of 1 Canada Square in Canary Wharf. Given the very short programme window available for the move, the key criterion was the ability to be able to finalise the specification and manufacture the furniture very quickly.

HS2 were keen to develop a common platform for the furnishing of their new offices, to allow for any future moves or relocations. This common platform covered the entire office space, up to and including the directorate. The products needed to be mid-range in terms of cost, but had to have the ability to match the HS2 corporate colour scheme. It was therefore important that the furniture was very flexible, and could be easily adapted to meet these needs.

The furniture also needed to reflect the dynamic and innovative nature of the HS2 project, and enable the delivery teams to work flexibly and in rapidly changing team environments. Ultimately, all aspects of the service provision were directly provided by Flexiform. We controlled every stage of the process, from initial product design to the final handover process.

Our sales team is fully trained in workplace planning regulations, layout design, ergonomics and survey analysis, to ensure that the solutions we provided were both fit for purpose and an accurate representation of the HS2’s brief.

We have hundreds of customers who can testify to this, and it is particularly important in the public sector, where a large number of stakeholders can be involved in a project. Our team of seven dedicated staff are very well versed in operating in this environment.

“It was a real pleasure working with Flexiform. They embraced

the concept immediately, with speed and efficiency, providing

support throughout the project. Site management was detailed

and efficient. The installation teams were positive and

proactive. Flexiform were hugely accommodating and client

focused every step of the way. They shared valuable

knowledge and experience, but more importantly their

sincerity and care was outstanding. Thank you.”

Pico DeskingHS2 selected Pico back-to-back desking, with scalloped desks to allow for cables to feed below. The desks included D-ends, and were finished all in white.

LockersBespoke ten-door lockers fixed with a resettable four-digit locking mechanism were provided. Colour schemes varied, with some doors featuring HS2’s corporate colours, with the other doors and carcass in pale grey.

Meeting TablesAll-white meeting tables were chosen by HS2, complimented with meeting chairs in various colours.

Freestor TamboursFreestor tambours were selected as the main storage solution, in a uniform dark grey finish. However, tambours are available in various colour finishes and sizes.

Rectangular Meeting TablesConsistent with the selected Pico open plan desking, the meeting tables are in an all-white finish. This table is made up of three smaller tables, so they can be configured for different uses.

Breakout SeatingWe delivered a range of breakout seating provided by a number of our suppliers. Each pod featured a built in display screen for ad-hoc presenting. These were supplied in blue, to match the selected colour scheme.
