Kyra Dobard Selected as County Youth of the Year
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County waltzed into spring at the 34th Annual Gala Spring Fling on Friday, March 13th at The Breakers Palm Beach and for the second year in a row, hit record highs by raising over one million dollars to benefit the Club’s children.
Thomas Quick announced that the Lawrence J. and Florence A. DeGeorge Charitable Trust were graciously contributing $300,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs.
Danielle Hickox Moore announced a pledge from the Mary Alice Fortin Foundation to build a new state-of-the-art Teen Center in Belle Glade.
This will create an even larger Boys & Girls Clubs presence in Belle Glade and will allow the Boys & Girls Clubs to impact thousands more of children’s lives who would otherwise be home alone strug-gling to do homework or care for siblings.
This year’s Annual Gala was chaired by Danielle Hickox Moore along with Honorary Chairmen Mary Freitas, Thomas C. Quick and Eddy Taylor.
Proceeds from the Spring Fling support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County.

Dear Friends,We are off to a great start in 2015. Our
organization is growing and now serves 7,000 children in need annually. This year’s operating budget at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County is over $11 million.
For the second time in our Palm Beach Ball’s 34 year history, we raised over one million dollars. This year’s chair was executive committee member, Danielle Hickox Moore. During the evening, another transformational gift was announced. The organization received a pledge to build a new state-of-the-art Teen Center in Belle Glade! The Club-house will be named after Lesly S. Smith.
Additionally, we hosted other extremely successful fundraising events: Barefoot on the Beach at The Breakers; Polo Match & Brunch in Wellington; Delray Beach Be Great Celebration Dinner; the Max Entertainment Event in Riviera Beach. Still to come is the Annual Golf Classic hosted this year at The Dye Preserve Golf Club on May 9th.
A $260,000 grant was received from the The Jim Moran Foundation. These funds will be used at the Marjorie S. Fisher Clubhouse in West Palm Beach to create training and educational opportunities for our 250 youth development professionals countywide. We also received over $2 million in awards from 21st Century Community Learning Centers. Read more about this story on page 3.
Thank you so very much for your longstanding commitment to our Club kids and to this incredible organization. Without all of you, we would not be where we are today. This year and in the future, we have much to look forward to as we meaningfully impact the lives of those that need us most.
Respectfully,
Wally TurnerChairman of the Board

White Frost Center for the Arts Program
The new art program at the Neil S. Hirsch Family Boys & Girls Club in Wellington was recently developed by the White Frost Center for the Arts. Children who participate learn creative expression and study the works of the Masters. The Club members love it. Recently, beautiful art pieces done by the Club members were displayed at the Spring Fling Annual Gala.
“Not only did my son Oliver connect instantly with Mr. Wilson but he has also shown amazing talent and interest in art. Mr. Wilson has done a tremendous job teaching Oliver about the special gift and talent that he has. He has gone from being a child that believes he is not good and not smart to a very proud child.” - Club parent
