FRV WEBSITE UPDATE The FRV website and forum have had several challenges that are currently being addressed. The main website was hacked and malicious code in-stalled to allow the hackers to redirect our URL to other sites we have no association to. Many times this only affected mobile browsers. Maintaining

any site takes significant time, effort and knowledge, and this past year has been a little more than the BOD can keep up with if these issues continue. Because of this, we decided to move hosting to a managed solution by the company that helped with the redesign of the site previ-ously. They will be in charge of making sure all of the software and other components are kept up to date and that some other security fea-tures are put in place to avoid this going forward. There have also been

issues for some members in the forum (which is a completely different code base from the main site). Reports of having to reload pages multi-ple times, or clicking back and forth between threads before being able to post seem to be the most common issues. The forum software was originally developed quite some time ago. We are going to update this to the latest version, but we also hope the hosting move in general helps this to a certain extent. Otherwise, we are already in the middle of exploring a new forum solution that will likely replace what you see today. We're exploring the ability to transfer everything out of the cur-rent into the new, but might have to do a clean break at some point. We'll keep you posted. Thank you for your patience while we try to get our online communication tools migrated and more stable! Thanks for your patience! Blake Pawlikowski FRV Webmaster

KEN JACKSON ON WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 11TH Ken Jackson is a researcher and writer for Fishing the North Country publications. He and his family own and operate Jackson’s Lakeside Cottages on Vilas County’s Little St. Germain Lake. During the open water season he guides the waters of Northern Wisconsin for muskie, bass, and walleye. A graduate of UW-Stevens Point, Ken has written for such publications as Musky Hunter Magazine, Wisconsin’s Woods and Wa-ters, Wisconsin’s Great Outdoors, Vilas County News Review, and the Lakeland Times. He has also worked as a research writer for Fishing Hot Spots Publications. In June, 2003, he published his first book, "Don't Fish Angry". Since February of 2004, he and Russ Warye have co-authored 8 books on fishing in northern Wisconsin. Ken fishes all throughout the Midwest and Canada and has been fishing Little St. Germain and sur-rounding waters since he was 3 years old. 2015 marks his 27th season as a licensed guide in Wisconsin in pursuit of the elusive muskie. Ken is a 3rd generation guide in the footsteps of his father George and Grandfather Art Jackson. He learned from the "ground up" as he started with crappies and learned his way up to muskies under the supervision of the best outdoorsman, his Dad. He now enjoys sharing this gift to young and old alike when they choose to experience a trip to Northern Wisconsin. Come join us for an evening talking Wisconsin muskies! Admission is $3.00/person at the door. All our meetings are open to the public so grab a friend or two and stop in! If you haven’t been to a meeting in a while, this is a great meeting to come to as Ken will have you laughing and learning! Come catch up with friends and find out what’s been going on local lakes! The buf-fet dinner is from 6:00-7:00PM. Cost is $14.00/adults .COST $14.00/ADULTS. MEETING BEGINS AT 7:00PM.

FROM THE MEMBERSHIP CORNER…

Our current member-ship stands at 268 members which is down from last months tally of 270 members. Our de-cline in membership continues! We’ve also seen a drop off in at-tendance in our monthly

meetings and I’m not sure why this is happen-ing? Could the website problems have contrib-uted to this problem? Do we have issues with our speaker selections not being popular enough to draw a normal crowd? Have you checked out our FRV Facebook page or the FRV Twitter page? If not, then you should! When was the last time you came to a club meeting? We have a lot of the same faces at-tending every monthly club meeting which is great; but I see very few “new faces”. We all have crazy schedules but if you don’t carve out

some time to attend a meeting, you’ll never make one, its that simple. Too much other stuff becomes a priority, & coming to a club meetings takes a back seat! Please support your club by coming to the monthly meetings and buying some raffle tickets; or even treat yourself to din-ner and a few drinks! I’m open to some sug-gestions on how to make the meetings more entertaining! I’m also here to help you renew your membership when the time comes! Let me know how I can help you! Why not invite a friend or a neighbor to tag along to a monthly meeting with you or you could even come to a club sponsored fishing outing? This is a fun ex-perience and a chance to make some new friends. With your help, we can make the FRV Chapter the best chapter the in the country! Bring a friend, neighbor or family member to a club meeting soon and share in the fun! Happy Thanksgiving!! Frank Lucido Membership Director
