So What? We have journeyed to the cross of Christ and the empty tomb.
The relevant question is, “What difference does our resurrection faith make?” The
skeptic may quickly object that they observe little difference in our lives. If true, that
is a stinging criticism of modern Christianity. Contrast that with the early disciples.
Although the disciples fled and scattered when Jesus was crucified, something remark-
able transformed this frail and frightened band of followers. The New Testament
points to the resurrection as the origin of that transformation. The disciples became
bold and courageous, willing to die for the sake of the gospel. They did just that.
I pray that my resurrection faith will empower me every day to “deny myself, take up
my cross, and follow him” even, if necessary, to the point of death. The disciples’
bold witness and proclamation changed the world around them. We have been
entrusted with the same gospel. Let’s be faithful! Let me give a few suggestions to
guide us in our post-Easter experience:
Read the Bible devotionally, prayerfully meditating on a small section of scripture.
In response to our sacred reading, ask ourselves: What is God saying to me in
this scripture? What I am saying in response to God?
Take advantage of these warmer, longer days by meditating on the beauty and
splendor of God’s creation. Perhaps, awake a little earlier once a week to
watch the sun lift on the eastern sky, thanking God for the new day.
Be faithful in the discipline of worship with fellow believers. As the writer of
Hebrews so eloquently encouraged: “Let us consider how to provoke one
another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit
of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day
approaching” (Hebrews 10:24-25 NRS).
If we will enter these disciplines, I believe we will find our faith increasing and our
witness to the risen Christ growing.
Staying in Love — I will begin a new marriage series in April, using two
resources: John Gottman’s groundbreaking work on making marriages succeed along
with Andy Stanley’s material on “Staying in Love.”

Easter Offering
Our Easter Offering supports the work of missionaries in North America who faithfully share the good news of Jesus' death and resurrection and the gift of eternal life. Your gifts help missionaries continue this vital work of faith. We hope you will support this work by giving to the Global Missions Offering of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, the Annie Armstrong Offering of the Southern Baptist Convention, or to both. Our goal this year is $5,500. Your gifts will make a difference!
