Let me take the opportunity to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to all the esteemed board members of Asian Packaging Federation who have shown their confidence and bestowed the responsibility on my shoulder to handle the job of

of Asian Packaging Federation. The new Secretariat of APF has also been shifted from Thailand to India in April, 2013 and it has taken time for the Secretariat to settle down and streamline the activities.

It is well known fact that an initiative was taken by APF to publish E-news bulletin in 2012 and I was extremely happy to take the responsibility as Editor of E-News Bulletin to publish the same quarterly. However, it was really impossible to maintain the schedules as adequate information were not received on time from the member countries of APF. Due to this fact, we have published three issues under Volume 1 and the last issue was published in September, 2012.

ndAfter a gap of almost a year, I am pleased to present herewith the first issue on the 2 Y ear i.e., Volume 2, Issue No. 1 to highlight about the various activities undertaken by APF during the last one year. As mentioned earlier, the main objective of this E-bulletin is to update the information related to the growth and promotion of packaging technology in the Asian Region. In addition, APF is also involved to conduct the International competition under the banner of ASIASTAR to recognize the excellence in packaging by the packaging and allied industries hailing from the Asian Region.

Recently, APF has started to organize training programmes under Global Packaging Education initiative (GPEI) to train the personnel from industry, academia and research organizations who are involved to packaging field for the overall growth of packaging technology in the Asian Region.

I am confident that the current issue of E-News Bulletin will be very informative to all the stakeholders who are directly or indirectly related to packaging business and I will request all the member countries for their active participation to publish the E-News Bulletin in regular manner.
