Ignite: After about 40 weeks of only my voice

with events inserted

here and there, we have decided to

have our leaders speak in the month

of May. We have Dustin McKeachnie,

Mary Schlenker,

Brandon Hoovers, Alicia Quarrie, and Mike White

lined up for the next couple of weeks! So . . . doors open at

6:30pm and we end at 9pm –

tons of fun in between!

I’d like to thank His Kidz and

Teachers for a great production at Easter!

There will be a His Kidz pro-

gram during Saturday Night Service for those who are

interested with children. Chil-dren’s program runs on Sun-

day at 10:45am. “We are His

Kidz!”

Youth Adults: We are starting up again and we’re ready to dig in deep. Be in contact with me for the arti-cle that we will be discuss-ing. We’ll be having 3 get-togethers in the month of May and then partake in the Saturday Night Service at ALCC. Text, call, BBM, facebook, twitter, google plus, email me, etc. Can’t say you can’t get a hold of me for details! Music Team: Welcome back

Mike White! We have a full

team and it’s exciting to see what God is stirring in the music aspect of our Church. Continue to pray that as a Church we will desire more and more of God Himself and the intimacy of being in His presence. Worship Team Meeting on May 6th after our Sunday service. We’ll be playing, “You Won’t Relent” – check it out. Missions: Let us not forget our Mission Trip to Dominican! Let me know if you are still interested! Keep our Missionar-ies in prayer! In this together,

Tony Mejia

This year is no excep-tion. I am so thankful that Kathy is so willing to give out so much to each of us and as we honor the Mom’s this year, I know we will be blessed by the Word too! Men, don’t forget to bring your MOM’S!

Saturday Night

Gathering!

What a great time we experienced in the pres-ence of God at our

FIRST Saturday night gath-ering on April 21st. Coming up on Sunday May 26th, will be our SECOND service. Come and be inspired. Good evening Café at 6:00 and our service to follow at 6:30. Child care is provided! Thanks Wendy…

INVITATION Do you know the person sit-ting next to you? Why not ask them over for a coffee, dinner , a walk or an inspira-tional movie?

From the desk of Tony

Yes it is MAY! Trust

Trust is a word that we have

struggled with over the years. It is like someone who says,

‘that was for free’…we in-

stantly wonder if

that is true. Such

is the case

when it comes down to trust. Can

you trust me is often asked and we wonder. Well over

the month of May, we are going to investigate what the

Bible says about this LARGE

subject. I hope we will be challenged and inspired!

Mother’s Day! Each year we are blessed to have Kathy Innes share the Word on Mother’s day.

PAST/PRESENT/FUTURE

The past is gone forever. The future is uncertain for those who don’t know Jesus.

The present example for all to heed is: “Behold NOW is the accepted time; behold NOW is the day of salvation (2 Cor. 6:2). So don’t get stuck in the past! Paul tells us in Phil. 2:12 “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling”. Even though we’re saved, we still have to work on it every day, not just on Sunday! He also says in Phil. 3: 13,14 “This one thing I do, forget-ting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus”. My favorite Old Testament Prophet is Isaiah, who 600 years before Christ was born, prophesied Jesus’ death and resurrec-tion. He warns us in Is. 55:6 “Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near”. In verse 11 “My Word that goes forth out of My mouth, shall not

return unto Me void, but it will accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing where I sent it”. Know this: The Old Testament isn’t just some old story from the past! The New Testament Apostles referred to it all the

time, and some of them knew Jesus personally. Timothy tells us in his second book: “All scrip-ture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doc-trine, for reproof, for correction for instruction in righteousness; that the man (or woman) of God may be perfect, thoroughly equipped unto all good works”. I want to be equipped!

Hebrews 11, sometimes referred to as the “Faith Chapter” is a great example of using many Old Testament characters from Noah to Abraham as examples of God’s amazing grace when their faith was put into action. And we can’t deny Hebrews 13:8….. Jesus Christ the same yester-day, today, and for ever. The book of Acts is a crucial book of the New Testament, presenting an extensive picture of the early church and it proposes to show the continuation of all that Jesus

began to do and to teach. Not only that, it contains the acts Jesus carried out after His ascension through the Holy Spirit during Luke’s time on earth…..But God Who knew us before the earth was even formed, still gives us His Holy Spirit in this present time to teach us and guide us in The Way we should go. I’ve heard it said: “Acts should not end with a period, but a comma, because we are the continu-ing present Church”. Jesus speaks of His leaving the earth and the coming Comforter in John 16:13. “When He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth; for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak; and He will show you things to come”. WOW that’s what Jesus prom-ised his disciples and if we’re followers of Jesus, He says we’re His disciples. I know in my future I will see Jesus face to face. What a glorious future we have. Amen. PS Don’t forget what Jesus told John in Rev. 1:8. “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Al-mighty.

#9 SELF DISCIPLINE We made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them

or others. Some of us become so fo-cused on our personal fail-ures in recovery that we don’t deal with the pain we have suffered at the hands of others. Some of us, on the other hand, focus too much on the ways we have been mistreated and use these as excuses for our behavior. Ei-ther approach to past abuse leaves us with emotional baggage that will hinder our pro-gress in recov-ery. Forgiving others is an im-portant part of turning our will over to God. Jesus taught his disciples:

“Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored. May your kingdom come soon. May your will be done here on earth, just as it is in heaven. Give us our food for today, and forgive those who have sinned against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. If you for-give those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your

sins.” (Matthew 6: 9-

15).

Being forgiven for the wrongs we have done to others does not excuse us from our actions or make our actions right.

When we forgive others of the wrongs they have committed against us, we do not excuse what they have

done. We simply recog-nize that we have been hurt unjustly and turn the matter over to God. This

helps us face the truth about our own pain. It also rids us of any excuse to continue our com-pulsive behavior be-

cause of what has been done to us.

Come and join us on Thursday evening @ 7:00 p.m. to begin the process of experiencing freedom from the hurts, habits and hang-ups from your past.

Yours in Christ Marty & Blanche

Fisher

Her Mother’s Hope By: Francine Rivers

This is a unique book series that Francine (author of Redeeming Love) has done. The story be-

hind the story is interesting indeed. After writing And the Shofar Blew Francine Rivers declared she was done writing anymore novels. Finished. She was burnt out. Then, out of the blue, 7 years

later, her grandmother passed away. When she did, there were secrets re-

vealed. Reasons why Francine’s mother was the way she was: strict, pushy, and complicated. The main reason was Francine’s grandmother. There was

a rift in the relationship between the two, and no resolution. When Fran-cine’s mother heard her mother had a stroke in Oregon, she raced to get there, but she died be-

fore her daughter could reach her. Francine’s mother was devastated. Heart-broken, she told

Francine, “I think she died just so we couldn’t talk things through.”

This first book represents the journey Francine took to get answers about her mother and

grandmother and the relationships between the three generations. The main character of the first book, Her Mother’s Hope, Marta has a strong resemblance to Francine’s own grandmother.

Marta’s family has very low expectations for her. Plain, a third-grade education, and a sharp tongue does not help the matter. Her father insists she will be nothing more than a servant for

the rest of her life. Marta is determined to prove him wrong. Her sister also works for a richer man, with vague hopes

that the heir of the wealth will marry her. Instead he only uses her, leaves her with child. Unable to face the world with an illegitimate child, she drowns herself. With a third-grade school education, and an iron will, she leaves her home

country of Switzerland for Canada. There, she reads and learns insatiably about anything and everything. She builds up a business from nothing, and is determined never to depend on any man. Eventually she is wooed by an American and

marries him. They have several children but there is one who is weaker than the rest. Her name is Hildemara. Marta is

going to be sure she will not be weak and succumb to suicide like her sister. There is no work for him in Canada but plenty in America, but Marta is reluctant to give up her business. After a long struggle between husband and wife, they

move to California. Eventually all the kids grow up but Marta pushes Hildemara more than the others, Hilde sees this as her mother does not love her as much. They do not understand each other as miscommunication is large and in

charge.

Eventually Hilde grew up and decided to become a nurse, which was little more than a servant in her mother’s eyes.

She also got married and also had a daughter named Carolyn. History repeats itself as Hilde is unsure on how to show

love and affection to her daughter. It becomes evident that Carolyn has a better time with Marta…much to Hilde’s dis-may. Years of the strained relationship between mother and daughter come to a head as Hilde is diagnosed with tuber-

culosis…and Marta needs to learn to serve her daughter.

This is a deeply vulnerable book for Francine to write, as it reflects so much of her family’s secrets. She has said her

story is told in Her Daughter’s Dream, the second part of this series, but her mother and grandmother’s story is told in

the first. Heart-wrenching, honest and captivating, this book is not only an amazing story, but it is a true testament on

how women are sometimes our own worst enemies when it comes to relationships to the ones closest to us.

For Mother’s Day, I do believe this is an appropriate story as it has a clear mes-

sage: No one is on this earth forever, and life is too short to bear grudges. If you

read even just part of this family’s history, you’ll agree.

Good Sense will scout ahead for danger, Insight will keep an eye out for you.

They'll keep you from making wrong turns, or following the bad directions of those who are lost themselves and can't tell a trail from a tumbleweed.

These losers who make a game of evil and throw parties to celebrate perversity, traveling paths that go nowhere, wandering in a maze of detours and dead ends.
