"Our time together of fasting has arrived! I got the impression that I needed to fast a cer-tain some-thing. I figured it would be easy. Weeks away, I started double thinking and I tried to find something else that I thought was “equally important”. No word of a lie, I've had so

many people confirm what kind of fast I'm do-ing indirectly. I was ticked but convinced all

at the same time. God is good! John Piper writes in A Hunger For God, "Fasting reveals the measure of food’s mas-tery over us . . . or com-

puters or whatever we submit to again and again to conceal the

weakness of our hunger for God."

Fasting isn't about the an-

swer but about our devo-tion and

seeking of God. He spoke clearly to me of what my time looks like. He'll do the same for you. What has God pointed at in your life to fast? There is a very good reason. Take it on!"

capacity we can as your Pastor because I be-

lieve that the best is yet to come! I still BELIVE in the church to be all that God wants us to be…I still believe in the peo-ple that attend ALCC

and know God wants to do won-derful things in

our lives…I still BELIEVE in

God to perform mira-cles, set the captive free and to heal the sick…I still BELIEVE

that God is the same to-day, yesterday and for-ever the same loving God. Lastly, I still BELIEVE best is yet to come. As we consider prayer with fasting in January, let’s pray to that end…the best is yet to come! Standing with you in prayer to a great 2013! The Best is yet to come!

From the desk of Tony

Pillar 2013 is upon us! Ten (10) years ago, the Innes’ arrived in London and discovered 250 plus stop lights, 7 plus McDonalds and I think 34 Tim Horton’s! Coming from a small town of 2 stop lights, 1 Tim Horton’s and NO McDonalds! We thought we ar-rived and were so ex-cited to get started. That excitement has not changed at all. So grate-ful to serve in whatever

The spiritual principle that is the foundation of Step 4 is courage. In Step 4 we made a search-

ing and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. This means we take an honest look at our-selves so therefore this takes courage. Nehemiah 9: 1-3 ‘Now on the twenty-forth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, in sack-cloth and with dust on their heads. Then those of Israelite lineage separated themselves from all foreigners; and they stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers. And they stood up in their place and read from the book of the Law of the Lord their God for one-fourth of the day; and for an-other fourth they confessed and worshiped the Lord their God. As we make our moral inventory, we will probably find ourselves listing our destructive

habits, our defects of character, the wrongs we have done, the consequences of wrong choices that we now live with, and the hurts we have caused others. It’s like sifting through all the garbage in our past. This is painful, but it is a necessary part of throwing away those rotten habits and behaviors that, if not

dealt with, will almost certainly spoil the rest of our life. There have probably been times when we have ignored our own sins and problems and pointed a finger at someone else. We may be out of touch with our inter-nal affairs because we are still blaming others for our moral choices. Or perhaps we avoid self-examination by making moral inventories of the people around us. When God asked Adam and Eve about their sin, they each pointed a finger at someone else. “Have you eaten the fruit I commanded you not to eat?” “Yes”, “Adam admitted, but it was the woman you gave me who brought me the fruit, and I ate it.” “The serpent tricked me, she replied” (Genesis 3: 11-13. It seems to be human nature to blame others as our first line of defense. We also may avoid our own problems by evaluating and criticizing others. Jesus tells us, “And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own?”…Hypocrite! First get rid of the log from your own eye; then perhaps you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.” Matthew

7: 3, 5. While doing this step, we must constantly remember that this is a season of self examination. We must guard against blaming and examining the lives of others. There will be time in the future for helping others after we have taken responsibility for our own life.
