Editor’s wordWelcome to the summer issue of Newsflash.

Here we are a year after the Grenfell fire and at the time of writing, there is much talk of memorials to the victims and the lessons which can be learnt to ensure that such a tragedy does not occur again.

As a local organisation based just across the road from the tower, I think we’re well placed to have some understanding of the causes and the issues involved.

I hope you would agree with me that the only memorial, the only legacy, that really matters would be the construction of lots more safe, fully accessible social housing nationally and most especially locally, where such accommodation is in such short supply.

The council have already pledged to invest in this. A move which we support and urge them to do more and more of.

The next issue of Newsflash should be with you in September.
