Scripture Focus

The parable of the prodigal son is one of the best known of all the stories Jesus told. The parable is about divine mercy and the desire “to return to the father.” Luke has in mind tax collectors and sinners who were “drawing near” to Jesus. The group of Pharisees and scribes, represented by the elder son, only complain and criticize. According to the way they see it, they have served God and obeyed the Law. They don’t understand how sinners can also be sons and daughters of God. For Luke, the religious leaders who keep all the rules and think they can earn salvation by their own efforts are farther away from God than the sinners.

Life Focus

3. How do you handle resentment in your own life experience? What words of advice to deal with resentment could you offer the older brother?

4. The father shows loving patience. Speak of an experience from your life when you had to wait patiently. How did that make you feel?

5. Describe a situation in your life when you found it difficult to ask forgiveness.

6. Who would you have a difficult time letting back into the Church or the family? Why?

To conclude our Share Lent campaign on Solidarity Sunday with the presentation of the Symbols of Solidarity and the Share Lent collection we invite you to consider joining us and bringing your favorite cultural , traditional or ethnic dish to be shared symbolizing our solidarity with the global family of forced migrants. A Dish to be Shared serves as a symbol evoking the hope of forced migrants that during their

journey they will meet people who will reach out to them. This Lenten D&P Share Lent campaign invites us to be fellow travelers with our sisters & brothers who are forced to flee their homes. Let us gather to share both our favorite dishes sweet, spicy or savory and the stories that have accompanied their journey to the table. An 'open mic' opportunity for sharing your stories will take place during the meal. Please contact Brenda Cavallin to let me know how many will be attending and what you will be bringing to share so we can properly prepare the space to host you [email protected] or by voice mail at my X211 (705)522-3900.

PERFUME & SCENT ALERT! A number of our parishioners are very sensitive to fragrances from perfumes, colognes & lotions. They can set off serious allergic reactions. We ask that people refrain from using them when coming to Masses so that all will feel welcome and safe. A small sacrifice for others! Thank you!

Vespers (Evening Prayer) Vespers, or Evening Prayer, is a contemplative service of scripture, song and silence that provides a shared, verse by verse meditation on select psalms and other texts. It is sung gently and prayerfully using simple chanted melodies. Vespers will be prayed on Friday April 12th at 7:00 pm Stations of the Cross and Compline (Night Prayer) Compline, or Night Prayer, is the church's final prayer of the day. It is a prayer of reflection on the day that has passed, and an entrusting of ourselves to God's care when we are at our most vulnerable. Stations of the Cross and Compline will be prayed on the following Friday, April 5th at 6:30 pm

Development and Peace-Caritas Canada calls us to share the journey with those forcibly displaced in Colombia. Over 6.5 million people have been forcibly displaced due to conflict, violence, natural disasters, and development projects. With your support, Development and Peace’s partner the National Agrarian Coordination (NAC) is working with Indigenous women, to help them gain the skills and confidence to be intermediaries with the authorities. By promoting inclusive and participatory democracies, we are addressing one of the root causes of forced migration! Next week is Solidarity Sunday, when the Share Lent collection in support of the work of Development and Peace will take place. Your generosity has a real impact on the lives of our sisters and brothers in the Global South!
