Language CoursesIn the mornings, students take language courses designed to helpimprove their fluency in conversational Korean. Using anintegrated teaching method, students practice speaking,listening, reading, and writing skills and learn useful vocabularyand grammar patterns. Through group projects and classroomactivities, students acquire practical speaking experience whilelearning about Korean culture.

Cultural ActivitiesStudents spend the afternoons taking interactive culture classes. Inaddition, students take outings into the city with their instructors orteaching assistants to complete assignments that help thempractice their Korean language skills in a real world setting.Destinations include historical sites and other local points ofinterest. Students will also participate in culture-related groupprojects with Korean college students.

Field TripsStudents will have the opportunity to take several half-day fieldtrips to visit attractions in the Seoul Metropolitan Area, includingSamchung-dong, Insa-dong, sporting events, and concerts. Inaddition, students have the option of taking a 2-day trip tohistoric sites outside of Seoul.

Requirements and Credits

Upon successful completion of course requirements students willreceive 6 credits. Credits may be transferred to the students’ homeinstitution by requesting an official transcript to be sent to theiruniversity’s registrar’s office. In order to receive credit, students arerequired to attend at least 80% of their classes.

Language Exchange Partnership

While attending the program, students have the option ofparticipating in a language exchange with a native Korean speaker.A language exchange is a great opportunity to practice Korean andlearn about Korean culture while sharing your own native languageand culture with a new Korean friend. To participate in the languageexchange program, students should contact us at least one monthprior to their arrival on campus.
