SUPERVISOR ISSUES YEAR END REPORT

My Fellow Citizens:2013 has been an extremely productive year in the Town of Evans. Here is a summary of Evans improvements and cost saving initiatives realized by the Town Board.

• Full implementation of high deductible health insurance.• LED lights installed resulting in high efficiency and cost savings.• Completion of solar power initiative -- providing green energy and savings.• Retirement incentives -- realized savings through reduced salaries and benefits.• Downsizing of work force through attrition.• Transition of the town's water system to ECWA, creating a revenue stream for infra-structure improvements.• Approval of 57 homes in a new development, adding to a new potential tax base.• An additional 14 new homes being built throughout the town.• Successful completion of Phase I of Sturgeon Point Nature Trail, improving recreation and enhancing tourism.• Downsizing the Assessor's Department for an annual savings of $36,951.• Revised the office copier contracts for an annual saving of $1,048.• Appointed a citizen's committee to look into the development of a Town Dog Park.• Began renovation of the John K. Thompson pool facility for the purpose of modernization and making it more "user friendly."• Eliminated unnecessary phone lines and cell phones for an annual savings of $3,000.• In cooperation with Erie County, executed bids and scheduled construction of Phase 2 of the multi-use recreational bike path.• Secured $100,000 from NYS Legislature to offset dredging costs at Sturgeon Point Marina.• Installed an automatic entrance for the disabled at the Town Hall through grant funding.

While this report officially marks the mid-point of my current term, there remains much more to accomplish. Be assured that the commitment of "putting Evans First" remains the top priority.

Local resident, Bill Faust was presented with a plaque commemorating a Planning Achievement Award from the Town of Evans Planning Board. The presentation was made at the Planning Board’s November 21, 2013 public meeting. The award was proudly given in recognition of his 26 years of distinguished service to the Evans com-munity as a member of the Planning Board. Mr. Faust has demonstrated sincere dedication to public service and his continuing presence and conscientious efforts were a val-ued service to the Town. Bill is now the owner/operator of the Mystic Hill Olde Barn, a retail store which special-izes in selling local Amish wares and country gifts.
