VRMLVirtual Reality Modeling Language

a technology that allows you to enter and interact with a world that is generated by a computer.

It uses special graphics, video images and stereo sound to make the world seem real.

What is Virtual Reality?

Uses Of Virtual Reality

• The uses for virtual reality are infinite. It can be used for air traffic control, medicine, entertainment, office work, industrial design etc.

• Virtual reality could also be used for destructive purposes, such as war and crime.

forms of virtual reality: • It consists of a helmet which has small TV screens and

earphones fitted into it, and a glove (some systems use a joystick or wand instead of a glove). The helmet and glove are linked to computers which are programmed with special sounds and graphics.

• It uses video to track the image of the user in a virtual world where you can also pick up or move objects.

• It is where three- dimensional images are played on a large screen. The shape of the screen helps to give you a greater sense of being in the virtual world. By wearing special 3-D glasses, this effect can be greatly improved.

What is a Modeling Language?

A modeling language is any artificial language that can be used to express information or knowledge or systems in a structure that is defined by a consistent set of rules. The rules are used for interpretation of the meaning of components in the structure.

It can be graphical or textual.

• Graphical modeling languages use a diagram technique with named symbols that represent concepts and lines that connect the symbols and represent relationships and various other graphical notation to represent constraints.

• Textual modeling languages typically use standardized keywords accompanied by parameters to make computer-interpretable expressions.

Types of Modeling Language

What is VRML?VRML is: A text file formatA simple language for describing 3-D shapes

and interactive environmentsA web standard

Writing and Viewing VRML Files

You can write VRML files using:• Any text editor• Many world builder applications• You can view VRML files using a VRML

browser• A VRML plug-in to an HTML browser

Voice/Speech Recognition

Voice recognition is the process of taking the spoken word as an input to a computer program.

recognition is the technology by which sounds, words or phrases spoken by humans are converted into electrical signals, and these signals are transformed into coding patterns to which meaning has been assigned

Two Classes of Voice Recognition

Drawing & Handwriting

DIGITIZING TABLET

An input device that enables you to enter drawings and sketches into a computer similar to the way one draws images with a pencil and paper.

Also known as graphics tablet , graphics pad, drawing tablet, or simply a tablet

Uses of Digitizing Tablet:o capturing handwritten data or

signatureso used to trace an image from a piece

Interoperability

What is Interoperability?

The ability of software and hardware on different machines from different vendors to share data.

Refers to the way we communicate with one another, with data and machines.

INTER=between/among/withinOPERA=work/operationABILITY=capacity

• Syntactic interoperability• Post Facto Interoperability• Semantic interoperability

result is tied to logical structure”
