Winter Festive 2012 opened with agala show of dramatic looks createdby Lakme makeup expert ClintFernandes. Models flauntedcombinations of elaborately doneeyes with nude lips as well as red hotlips, created with the Lakme AbsoluteMonochrome range of makeup.

What followed next were thecollections by Kallol Datta 1955 (the1955 to his name is his mother's birthyear), and Pankaj and Nidhi Ahuja. After the show, Kallol confessed, "Forme, doing the grand finale was veryintimidating.

It was a huge jump from doingregular shows. But I'll have to say thatthe fashion week team handheld methrough most of the stages and werefantastic. Having Kareena to wear mydesigns was an added bonus. I'venever seen her in something like whatI would normally make and yet shecarried it off so well."

Pankaj and Nidhi said, "We'vealways used tons of colour in ourcreations, so the monochromepalette was a new challenge. It'sgreat to see how everyone is lovingthis new side to us. Working on thegrand finale with Kareena was afantastic experience. We couldn'thave asked for more."

Head of Innovation at Lakme,Purnima Lamba was thrilled at howthings turned out. "The show wasbrilliant, and we were thrilled to havecreative and futuristic designers likeKallol Datta and Pankaj-Nidhi tointerpret Lakme Monochrome on theramp. Clint also did a stunning workon the makeup show. It was anotherfirst to enhance the intrinsic co-dependency between makeup andfashion and at the same timeshowcase budding talent in theglamour world. The fashion weekwill continue to inspire us tointroduce style statements thatreflect the fashion trends of theseason," she said.

Pick the perfect sofa for your homeHere's what you need to keep in mind when choosing one.

Sofas have always been and will be the focus of attentionin living rooms, and so needs attention in both purchase

and maintenance. Here's how you should go about selecting theideal one for your home... Size wise It is important to first determine

the sofa dimensions that will fit into the space in your room. Beforeyou purchase, you must know the approximate width and length ofyour living room or hall. Material matters Once you know the size, select the upholstery. Choose a fabric that best suits your lifestyle- cotton, silk, wool or a blend or synthetic leather. Silk looks beautiful

and classy. Cotton is perfect but is thinand linen wrinkles quickly. Chenille

and synthetic leatherare both soft anddurable. Patternpolicy If you place

your sofa in a high- traffic zone in yourhome, or you have active kids at home, then it is wise to goin for a multi-colored pattern on the upholstery or tweeds whichhide stains well. Colour coded Colour is the other important factorthat is decided not only by your personal taste and preference.Style mantra You have to decide on the style - whether you'd wantan ethnic one like a Rajasthani style or a modern style one in anabstract, eye-catching design.

27 VALUABLE TIPS YOU SHOULD KNOW TO GETYOUR HOME SOLD FAST AND FOR TOP DOLLAR!CONTD. FROM LAST WEEK15.IT’S BETTER WITH MOREPROSPECTS.When you maximize your home’smarketability, you will most likelyattract more than one prospectivebuyer. It is much better to haveseveral buyers because they willcompete with each other; a singlebuyer will end up competing withyou.16. KEEP EMOTIONS IN CHECKDURING NEGOTIATIONS.Let go of the emotion you’veinvested in your home. Be

detached, using a business-likemanner in your negot iat ions. You’ l l def in i te ly have anadvantage over those who getcaught up emotional ly in thesituation.17. LEARN WHY YOUR BUYERIS MOTIVATED.The better you know buyers thebetter you can use the negotiationprocess to your advantage. Thisallows you to control the pace andduration of the process.18. WHAT THE BUYER CANREALLY PAY.

As soon as possible, try to learnthe amount of mor tgage the buyeris qualif ied to carry and howmuch his/her down payment is.If their offer is low, ask theirRealtor about the buyer’s abilityto pay what your home is wor th.19. WHEN THE BUYER WOULDLIKE TO CLOSE.Quite often, when buyers would“like” to close is when they needto close. Knowledge of theirdeadl ines for complet ingnegot iat ions again creates anegotiating advantage for you.20. NEVER SIGN A DEAL ON YOURNEXT HOME UNTIL YOU SELL YOURCURRENT HOMEBeware of closing on your newhome while you’re still makingmor tgage payments on the oldone or you might end upbecoming a seller who is eager(even desperate) for the first dealthat comes alon.)21. MOVING OUT BEFORE YOUSELL CAN PUT YOU AT ADISADVANTAGE.

It has been proven that it’s moredifficult to sell a home that isvacant because i t becomesforlorn looking, forgotten, nolonger an appealing sight. Buyersstar t getting the message that youhave a another home and areprobably motivated to sell. Thiscould cost you thousands ofdollars.22. DEADLINES CREATE ASERIOUS DISADVANTAGE.Don’t try to sell by a certain date. This adds unnecessary pressureand is a serious disadvatage innegotiations.23. A LOW OFFER-DON’T TAKEIT PERSONALLY.Invariably the initial offer is belowwhat both you and the buyerknows he’ll pay for your proper ty.Don’t be upset, evaluate the offierobjectively.24. TURN THAT LOW OFFERAROUNDYou can counter a low offer oreven an offer that’s just underyour asking price.
