The victory secured theYellowjackets a place in the CIF-Southern Section Central Divisionfootball playoffs which start onFriday. Colton (5-5, 3-2) suffered a set-back early in the game---fallingvictim to the pass play link up ofFontana duo quarterback MylesSaler and receiver John Salcidothat put the Steelers ahead 7-0after one quarter of play. The Yel-lowjackets managed to tie thegame through a Martinez 22 yardpass to receiver Isaiah Cisneros,but a couple of defensive miscuesculminated into two Fontanascores. Running back RonnieWatts rushed into the end zoneand minutes later Saler threw apass to Gerson Diaz to put theSteelers up 21-7. Colton would re-spond with a touchdown drive, butwent into the half trailing by sevenpoints.Martinez would prove to be thecritical force behind Colton’sresurgence during the second half.With 4:10 left to play in the thirdquarter, he launched a 35 yard passto Jason Taylor for a touchdownthat cut the lead to three points.The Yellowjacket’s defensestymied Fontana’s defensethroughout the fourth quarter,which would set up Martinez topower the offense and secure thegame winning moment. Colton head coach Chris Mailowas humble in victory, givingFontana credit for putting up afight. “They’re not going to give itto us,” he said. “Those guys turneda corner and did a great job. I tipmy hats to them. We really had tobattle our tails off tonight.”Mailo said that execution will becritical to their survival in theplayoffs. “We need to play fastfrom the start,” he said. “We can’twait until halftime to start play-ing.”Colton will travel to Moreno Val-ley Rancho Verde on Friday No-vember 15. Eisenhower’s Nigel Lee inter-cepted Redlands East Valley quar-

terback Armando Herrera threetimes en route to a 28-14 victoryover the Wildcats. The win pro-vided them with their second con-secutive share of the Citrus Beltleague title and the league’s num-ber one seed in the CIF-SouthernSection Inland Division playoffs.Even though REV (5-5, 4-1)threatened early in the game withpromising drives, the Eagles (8-2,4-1) managed to force the Wildcatsto turnover possession five timesin the first quarter. The openingkickoff served as a precursor to thefrustrating night REV would expe-rience, as they fumbled the ball, al-lowing the Eagles to takepossession and take a 7-0 lead withonly two minutes played. One of Lee’s interceptionsproved to be the highlight of thegame. Herrera was hit on the Ea-gles blitz---forcing him to throwthe ball that the Senior strongsafety and wide receiver ran for101 yards into the end zone. Eisenhower will host CoronaSantiago on Friday November 15.Gametime is 7:30 p.m.

Other Inland area matchups sawSan Gorgonio finish their season aperfect 10-0 as they defeated Ar-royo Valley 63-8, while Yucaipadefeated Redlands 44-6 to claimthe upset and the final Citrus BeltLeague playoff spot.
