Job Interview Do’s and Don’ts
Are you preparing for a job interview at the moment or do you know
someone who is?
Then these 7 interview do’s and don’ts are for
you!
“My Manager just has no leadership skills.”
Do not bad mouth your current employer. You should aim to create a good picture of
yourself as a respectful company player.
“We have to raise a PAF before the R2O can be
done.”
Do not assume that the interviewer understands every
industry acronym/abbreviation. Explain products and services
as simple as possible in order to get your example across.
“I really really want this job and accept all conditions.”
Do not act like you are desperate for employment. This may put your interviewer off as
they want employees who genuinely want to work for
them.
So what should you say instead?
Here are 4 Do’s!
“What are the common attributes of your top
performers?”
This question will help you get some valuable insider
information. You can mirror the hiring manager’s current
employees by giving examples of how you demonstrated similar traits.
“What do you expect me to accomplish in the first 60 to
90 days?”
Asking this question demonstrates that you are eager to start and
ensure you’re meeting their expectations. It also shows if the
position is right for you.
“What are the one or two things that really drive results
for the company?”
Great candidates want to know how they can make a
difference to the company. They know that by helping the
company succeed, they will succeed as well.
“How do you plan to deal with...?”
This question will show how your research is directly related to the business. A question such as: “How do you plan to deal with XYZ’s new launch this May?” will
wow your interviewer and make
you stand out.
