Zamperla’s new Water Fight

brings a ‘refreshing’ experience

to parks

As mentioned in Z News earlier this year, we have been developing new versions of the hugely popular Air Race

While the Air Race 6 continues to thrill park visitors on four different continents and the first Air Race 8 is now ready to open in Fantasilandia, Chile, our Technical Department has completed another new version of this very successful ride. The latest model provides yet more options for operators and in doing so necessitated the revision of the Air Race names so that they reflect each version more precisely. As a result, the Air Race 6, the very first model, is now known as the Air Race 6.4 (6 arms and 4 seats per vehicle), while the Air Race 8, the first evolution of the ride, has become the Air Race 8.4 (8 arms with 4 seats per vehicle).

And now we are proud to introduce the Air Race 8.2 (8 arms and 2 seats per vehicle) installed on a trailer for travelling use. This latest model of the Air Race will stun the world of travelling rides following several years during which almost

nothing totally new was introduced in major rides for this sector.

We are confident it will enjoy the success its ‘older brother’ is enjoying around the world. The Air Race 8.2 will receive its first public runs during the

well-known Texas State Fair in Dallas, US, and will then be officially launched at the IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando, Florida, in November. So if you are looking

for a thrilling new trailer mounted ride, book your flight to Orlando! But that’s not all! We want to ensure that every park, FEC, carnival and more can enjoy the fun and

excitement of the Air Race so in the next issue of Z News we’ll have details of the Air Race 6.2 (6 arms with 2 seats per vehicle) indoor version and the Super Air Race.

During the summer of 2012, the first exam-ple of Zamperla’s brand new Water Fight ride opened at Minitalia Leolandia Park in northern Italy, adding some ‘refreshing’ family fun to the park’s attraction offer. The ride has been designed to have a small footprint in order to maximise the interac-tion between riders. It features a track length of 145m and ac-commodates eight, beautifully themed boats, each with eight seats, while a reli-able series of submerged water propulsion pumps moves the boats around the route. Another system moves the boats along in the station section of the ride to allow for

safe loading and unloading. Each boat incor-porates eight water cannons, one for each passenger, which are suitable for guests of all sizes. The water flow from these is calibrated with an ‘interrupt’ element that makes the ‘bat-tle’ more interesting and avoids riders be-coming too wet. The new Water Fight at Minitalia Leolandia has been given a pirate theme, with the galleon style boats sailing under the flags of the four Italian Maritime Republics of the Middle Ages. The quality of the boats, both in structure and decoration, is of a particularly high stan-dard with exquisitely detailed painting and

a fibreglass construction that looks almost like genuine ancient wood. The excellent theming truly enhances the attraction and the experience provided and while the surrounding features being built by the park (at the time of writing) are a work in progress, the station, queue line and shop all complement the attraction perfectly, as will all the other elements when complete. If you are looking for an interactive wet ride that all the family can enjoy then contact our sales team to find out more about this fan-tastic, fun-packed attraction which can be fully customised to fit the space and them-ing requirements of your park.

For the 2012 season Särkänniemi in Finland redeveloped an existing family area, completely redesign-ing the space as Angry Birds Land and utilising both existing and new rides within it, all based on the An-gry Birds theme. The area features two brand new rides from Zam-perla – a Sky Tower named Light-house and a Jump Around called Angry Birds Ride. The vehicles on this latter attraction are shaped like the popular red birds and are suitable for the whole family. The birds bounce about as they rotate around a central column, making the attraction great fun even for

the youngest guests. The more thrilling Lighthouse tower ride takes visitors high above the park and provides an excellent vantage point from which to view the sur-rounding landscape. Most of the existing rides in the area are clas-sic Zamperla attractions, such as the Rockin’ Tug, the Crazy Bus and the Magic Bikes, all of which still look great after some years of op-eration, thanks to the quality of the fibreglass used in their produc-tion and the excellent work of the Särkänniemi maintenance team. Additionally, the new look area is completed by a big central play-

ground structure and a range of shops, games and kiosks, all with the Angry Birds theme. Zamperla is extremely proud to have again been chosen by Särkänniemi to be part of this wonderful project.

Stretching to an impressive height of 50m, the Vertical Swing offers its 24 passengers a superb pan-oramic view of the of Flamingo Land’s ride and attractions areas as well as the park’s zoo. And it is for this reason that the panels on the arms of the ride have been themed

to resemble the skin of wilds ani-mals, such as the zebra, giraffe and leopard. The park chose Zamperla once again having experienced the quality and success of our rides the previous year with the installation of the Air Force roller coaster and the Red Baron.

If you are a regular reader of Z News, you will know that this is the third year running our September issue has included a story about the love French parks have for Zamper-la Classic rides. In 2012, many installations have tak-en place in parks in France. These include a Mega Disk’O and Family Swinger at Dennlys Park; a Jump

Around and Mini Tea Cup at Festy-land; a Crazy Bus at Kid Park; and a Jumping Star, Jump Around, Magic Bikes and Samba Tower at Parc du Bocasse. The continued success of Zamperla’s rides within such a so-phisticated market as France is a clear indication of the quality and reliability of our rides and attrac-tions.

Flamingo Land goes vertical!

French Parks turn to ZamperlaOnce again, several French parks have chosen Zamperla classic rides for their family areas

Following the success of a Zamperla Air Force ride installed during the 2011 season, the UK’s Flamingo Land introduced a Vertical Swing for 2012.

The beautiful Finnish park has opened a new family area themed on the well-known video game characters and Zamperla is proud to be part of this with the supply of two new rides
