There are two main reasons why Zam-perla has enjoyed so much success over the years in creating rides designed and themed on popular brands and intel-lectual properties – our huge range of proven, award winning attractions and our ability to custom theme them to any requirement.Zamperla has worked for many years with the largest operators in the amuse-ment industry and today our Art De-partment can offer the knowledge, skills and sensitivity that is required to work alongside the owners of the world’s most famous brands and characters to create the best and most detailed themed at-tractions. We fully understand the im-portance of the smallest of details and how vital it is to recreate every element

to perfection. It is for these reasons that we are regu-larly chosen by major parks around the world to help them create new themed rides or complete themed areas. For example, in 2008, Drayton Man-or Theme Park in the UK introduced Thomas Land, inspired by the world fa-mous Thomas and Friends brand, with seven specially themed Zamperla rides. The new area had a dramatic effect on attendance fi gures, no doubt helped considerably by our successful attrac-tions, and following this initial success, the park management decided to add another new Zamperla ride for the 2011 season – a special version of the Willy the Whale ride, suitably themed to the Thomas and Friends brand.

Also in the UK, following Drayton Man-or’s example, Pleasure Beach, Black-pool, added Nickelodeon Land in 2011, featuring all the well-known characters from this famous IP along with fi ve new, fully themed rides from Zamperla. These included a Mega Disk’O, which became the Avatar Airbender; an Aero Top Jet,

known as the Fairy Taxi World Spin; a Crazy Submarine, themed as the Bi-kini Bottom Bus Tour; a Samba Tower, re-created as Diego’s Rain-forest Rescue; and a Jump Around, branded as the Wonder Pet Big Circus Bounce.

Another great example of Zamperla’s artistic skills was also introduced this year at Parque Warner Madrid, in Spain, where three themed rides were added, namely a Kite Flyer, Rockin’ Tug and Fire Brigade. And in future issues of Z News, we will be revealing details of other themed at-tractions created and installed by Zam-perla, including the Peanuts themed rides designed for Cedar Fair, a Mini Tea Cup based on Hello Kitty and a Mini Jet themed on Harold the Helicopter from the Thomas and Friends brand.

Zamperla maximises the success of branded rides.

Offering what is probably the widest range of fam-ily rides available from a

single manufacturer, Zamperla can adapt any of its attractions

to any branded character. What better combination than a great ride themed on a well-known character or IP?

2011 witnessed the open-ing of many new Zamper-la rides around Europe, in-

cluding two new coasters in the UK, the third and fourth Barn-

yard rides in France, the addi-tion of our popular Demolition Derby in Belgium, a magic mo-ment (or 14 to be exact!) for the Magic Bikes – and many more.

Zamperla’s Roller Coaster Dept. is enjoy-ing increased success every year, with its range of products being much appreci-ated by both riders and park manage-ment teams alike. In the spring of 2011 we opened two new coasters in the UK, one at Adventure Island and another at Flamingo Land.Adventure Island was in the market for a family coaster that could be installed without the need for foundations and they decided on a Zamperla Speedy Coaster which has enjoyed great suc-

cess at the park since it opened.Meanwhile, Flamingo Land was looking for a new family coaster, but one that would stand out from the more famil-iar rides. So they decided on a family inverted Air Force 5 with a custom de-signed layout and our team of engineers created a great, eye-catching attraction which fulfi lled the park’s expectations perfectly. So now there are two more good rea-sons to contact Zamperla for the next coaster for your park!

Since its introduction at the 2008 EAS show, the Barnyard has been particu-larly appreciated by a number of French parks, with Papea City and Ange Mi-chael the fi rst two venues to sign up for this family ride, which features a 20 pas-senger ‘farm barn’ that gracefully spins, dips and tilts to provide fun and excite-ment for all ages.Subsequent installations have taken place throughout the world, including

a new beach themed version at Coney Island Luna Park in New York, US, while in 2011 it was back to France where the success of those initial examples has been noted by other park operators. The third and fourth Barnyards to open in France can now be found at Fraisper-tuis City and Dennlys Parc, the latter having also added a Jump Around, a Jumping Star and a Magic Bikes, all from Zamperla.

The Demolition Derby has become a classic Zamperla family ride that has en-tertained millions of park guests all over the world. The triple spinning action of the ride has always been popular with parks looking for a unique family attrac-tion, while the car shaped vehicles are easy to customise, adding further to its success with operators. In recent years, some of the largest parks in Europe have chosen the Demolition Derby and have adapted it to their par-ticular themed requirements, including

Europa-Park in Germany where it was given a London Taxi theme, and Drayton Manor Theme Park in the UK, where it was incorporated into the Thomas Land area and themed accordingly. This year, yet another major park has added a Demolition Derby, namely Plopsa Park in Belgium, which chose a lotus theme that fi ts perfectly with the Maya Bee theme of the park. And we are delighted to report that the ride, in-stalled indoors, has been an instant suc-cess, as it has been at other parks.

With its unique interactive motion, the Magic Bikes has always enjoyed much success – but in the past year it has been one of Zamperla’s most sought after attractions.2011 saw no less than 14 new Magic Bikes installed around the world. Three of these went to France – at Dennlys Parc, Futuroscope and Jacquou Parc – and fi ve have gone to the various Lego-land parks, demonstrating the wide-spread popularity of this superb family ride.

To understand why Magic Bikes is so incredibly successful you just have to view a video of the attraction and watch parents pedal shoulder to shoul-der with their children, laughing con-tinuously as the vehicle swoops up and down and round and round. They all love it!And for parks looking for a higher hour-ly capacity on the ride, a new 8-arm version is now available with 16 seats, the fi rst example of which is already in operation at Port Aventura, Spain.

Although Zamperla is no longer one of the owners of Leolandia in northernItaly, the park still chose several Zam-perla rides for its new pirate themed area. Leolandia introduced three new rides for the 2011 season, in the shape of a new version of the Jumping Tower 16, with the central column rotating, a Tea Cup and a Merry Go Round. All the rides feature a beautifully designed,

custom made theme, with the Merry Go Round, incorporating a gold fi bre-glass roof and wonderful animals, set to stand out from everything you have seen before. And due to the success of the new area a further expansion is planned for 2012, which will see the introduction of the fi rst Water Fight from Zamperla. Watch this space!
