Background India is slated to become the world’s third largest economy by 2030. Key to this transformation is the growth and development of rural & semi urban India, where over 70% of the population reside. Two of the growth engines for transformation in rural & semi urban India are: • Microfinance & inclusive finance • Agricultural Production Systems Microfinance Objective Microfinance has revolutionized access to finance in India by merging socio & economic structures. At the heart of the microfinance movement are women shelf help groups (SHG). The objective of the rural immersion is to • Interact with the women SHGs • Experience the change in lifestyles due to microfinance • Understand the scope of Microfinance in India, through the eyes of practitioners & experts Microfinance immersion program The participants will be taken to an ideal village and the investors will have the following interactions: • Interaction with women members of a SHG • Share a meal with the women members • Undertake a village walk to witness various sanitation, education, infrastructure schemes of the government. • Have an interactive session with Crispino Lobo Founder & Director of Sampada Trust (a leading Micro Finance Institution) Profile of Crispino Lobo Having over 35 years of experience working in rural India, Crispino is an alumnus of the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, USA, he has five academic degrees covering the fields of philosophy, theology, psychology, economics and public administration. An authority and advisor to the government on agriculture, natural resource management and integrated water resources management; He co-founded WOTR, and now heads the Sampada Trust, a microfinance and entrepreneurship development centre.

Agriculture Objective Increase in the use of technology to ensure optimal utilization of resources and robust supply chain facilities are amongst the top reasons leading the structural changes in Indian agriculture. The objective of the rural immersion is to • Observe & witness the potential in the agricultural sector (farm & nonfarm sector) • Witness the change in agricultural productions systems • Experience the change in lifestyles of rural economy due to agricultural growth Agricultural immersion program The participants will be taken to a region, where commercial farming is done.
