// SS16 D2 //For this urban casual story we are inspired by the St. Ives ceramicist and potter, Barbara Hepworth. Hepworth was a leading figure in the colony of artists who resided in St. Ives during the Second World War. Her work exemplifies

Modernism and in particular modern sculpture.

Prints are loosely inspired by the geometric and abstract patterns of her work, mixed with a natural and soft ethnic

hand. Batik, marbling, geometrics and a few stylized conversational all feature. The ethnic trend is interpreted

in a loose, soft, calm, pretty and disarming way.

We referenced the hued and muted colours of the potters glaze palette. Muted and greyed off teals, purples, and mossy green are key to this story, along with crepe and blush pink.

The feel of this story is supremely natural, earthy and artisanal. Laundered and tumbled fabrics with texture are

key, as are heaps of linens, slubs, fine cottons and voiles.

Hits of metallic foils, printed, crumpled, cracked and battered are key to this unexpected mix, along

with super subtle lurex in unexpected places.

// SS16 D2 //For this heartland casual story we head to the home of Frieda,

namely casa de azure, in a very hot Mexican landscape. We were reflective of her inspiring sense of colour, all saturated

and heightened by her environment. For a pink or yellow to stand out in the burning heat…. it needs to be hot!

We referenced the fauna of a desert in bloom, her colorful traditional clothing, mixing of native textiles and her palette of oils. The team have created a collection of prints with large

scale naive floral’s, but have also woven in native patterns and contemporary conversational’s, including tiny flowering cactus, little Mexican figures, Inca desert birds and imagined creatures.

The overall print handwriting is bold, but slightly naïve.

The color palette is bright and spicy at times, rusted, dusted and contrasting. It celebrates summer, but doesn’t scream it quite so loudly. Saturated pink, rusty orange, desert green,

cornflower blue and yellows are mixed back with sun bleached tones. We would like to explore the minimal use of white, in

favour of natural and ecru to be true to the inspiration.

The overall feel of this story is eclectic, eccentric, confident and brave. Print mixing and paring with common tonalities is

suggested, as opposed to clashing them in a mad random frenzy.

Our girl is a super stylish artist after all and is very considered!!

Fun muti-coloured and engineered stripes are key to supporting the hook. As are mixing, patching, paneling, embroidery, tassels and embellishing.

// SS16 D2 //Transparency and layering was a big influence

for this Summer’s feminine story, and the unifying foundation of both parts of the stories is a strong

monochrome palate of charcoal and white.

For the feminine casual part of this story we layer on tones of plum, rosewood and strawberry pink at one end and the palest sky and Aegean blue at the other

end. It is important to keep the prints mono and tonal, never mixing the blue and plum spectrum together in

one print, only in a micro hint or highlight way.

The print hand-writing is very hand drawn, layered, and screen print heavy. We reference simplified, hand painted

blooms in a strong and bold and swirling, paint-brushy way.

For the feminine capsule, the color palette is stripped back to reveal an even tighter and more monochrome rendering,

with the addition of a very soft sophisticate shell pink. The addition of Silver metallic tones feature too, along

with laces, broderies, sheer layers and gauzy knits.

The print handwriting gets lighter and more delicate with negative spacing being key in denoting the shift change.

Although feminine, the silhouettes remain simple and contemporary, letting the print do all the talking.

Code of Conduct

The code of supplier conduct applies to all suppliers that produce goods forWhite Stuff, its subsidiaries, affiliates or agents (White Stuff)

The code sets out the basic requirements all factories must meet in order to do business with White Stuff, and provides the blueprint for White Stuff's continuous monitoring of factories’ employment practice and

environmental compliance. As a foundation stage member of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI), White Stuff has adopted the internationally recognised ETI Base Code and incorporated it into our own code of conduct.

1- General PrincipleFactories that produce Goods for White Stuff operate in

compliance with the laws of their respective countries and with other applicable laws, rules and regulations.

3- Forced LabourFactories shall not use forced labour, whether

in the form of prison labour, indentured labour, bonded labour or otherwise.

5- Wages and HoursFactories shall set working hours, wages and overtime pay

in accordance with all applicable laws and shall pay workers, as a floor, at least the minimum legal wage or the prevailing industry wage, whichever is higher. Wages should always be

enough to meet basic needs and to provide for some discretionary expenditure. While it is recognised that

overtime is often required in production, factories shall plan production in ways that limit overtime to levels that sustain

humane and productive working conditions.

7- EnvironmentFactories shall comply with all applicable environmental laws and regulations for waste management, handling

and disposure of chemicals and other dangerous materials, emissions and effluent treatment.

2- Non DiscriminationFactories shall employ workers on the basis of

their ability to perform their job and not on the basis of their beliefs or personal characteristics.

4- Child LabourFactories shall employ only workers who meet the

applicable minimum legal age requirement or are at least 14 years of age, whichever is greater. Factories are also required

to comply with all other applicable child labour laws.

6- Working ConditionsFactories must treat workers with respect and dignity and provide them with a safe and healthy work environment, while complying with all applicable laws and regulations

regarding working conditions. Factories shall ensure that noworker is subject to any physical, sexual, psychological or verbal harassment or abuse. Factories must be well lit and ventilated,

aisles accessible, machinery maintained and hazardous materials sensibly stored and safely disposed of. Those factories

providing living accommodation for their workers must keep these facilities clean and safe.

8- Freedom of AssociationWorkers are free to form or join associations of their own

choosing. Factories must not interfere with workers who wish to lawfully and peacefully associate, organise or bargain collectively. The decision whether or not to do so should

be made solely by the workers.
