dietary
fiber is good for your

The body needs dietary fiber!
They make sure that we do not get
too thick.

Fiber is not or only
partially cracked by our
digestive enzymes -
that results in many
positive properties.

Dietary fiber is mainly found in
grains, fruits, vegetables and
legumes.

One of the most popular dietary
fibers: Cellulose.
Before it gets food, it stabilizes the
plant like a skeleton.

An other popular fiber is pectin. You can find it in peels of apples
or in quinces.

Pectin helps to produce jelly. The
body also uses fiber to transform
liquid into a kind of jelly.

Fiber is good for our teeth. Due to their
fibrous structure you have to chew
longer. The resulting increased saliva
bathes the teeth and cleans them.

Bacteria in the mouth produce acid that attacks your teeth. Saliva is
alkaline, so it can buffer the acids and protect the teeth.

By extended chewing we eat much
slower:
Fast fed up with fewer calories - that
prevents obesity in the long run.

Some dietary fiber swell in the stomach, for example psyllium husks. Result: we do not
get hungry again so quickly.

In combination with water some fiber get into a kind of jelly: the digestive enzymes can not access the food directly.Result: carbohydrates are not transformed into
sugar that fast and blood sugar increases more slowly.

Prevent constipation: By the increased
volume of fiber the intestine has a lot
more work to do.

Good in, evil out: to eat many fiber decreases the
pH in the colon. Undesirable intestinal bacteria do
not like that, but the good do so!

One of the best sources of fiber are the seed husks from Plantago ovata (psyllium)
