Questions
Marquette University WCC
WURHA is in a financially stable position? How much is the
affiliation fee and where will this money go?
Fee is depended on the advisor/president. In the past it
has been $50
It goes for directorship food, spirit, but we always end
up having excess
Marquette WCC
Is this inspired by any other organizations?
Inspired by a GLACURH document

UW-Eau Claire WHIL
Believes that this is a great incentive to get people to host
WURHA, UWEC has hosted 2 years ago and it was an
awesome experience. It could also bring in competition for
bids, which is a great way to showcase many schools, if there
is a surplus in the budget this is a perfect way to give back to
schools.

For the past few years, there has been a divide in WHIL and WURHA. Since
the WHIL CCs don’t get to vote often, it’s the first step in making this a
seamless document to allow WHIL CCs to vote. It would let the directorship
decide which CCs should vote for which pieces.

Can you elaborate on campus organizations that have contributed to
this award aside from RHA and NRHH
A new president has brought strength into our other
organizations:
Our SGA has luckily been able to go interview our

We have a sustainability group as well that has revived
itself that has encouraged and helped get recycling

We now have low flush toilets in our student

another day of events and activities
Increase in collaboration between all of these
groups
UW-Whitewater WHIL
Elaborate on the newly formed committees and how they benefit
RLC?
Two new committees within Residence Life Council
Programming and Public Relations
Programming committee helps organize ideas from
conferences and helps decide what we really want to
put on. Things have been more organize, budgets have
been easier as well as publicity. LARGER numbers in
attendance. New collaboration with activities board that
has helped bring many events such as karaoke, white
elephant parties. These committees help delegate
tasks and helps bring in new and potential leaders.
Dual purpose for functionality and leadership

Biggest accomplishment most proud of
Just celebrated committee fest, the goal was to get the rest of our
assembly members and general members involved in committees.
This had a huge impact and have gotten people excited and have
helped filled seats that were not before
Biggest obstacle?
Getting people to come to programs, as co-programmer it’s something
I deal with all the time. We’ve put together a PR committee, which has
helped get people informed through social media, so we decided to go
them instead of having them go to you
Stout WCC
How is hall government funded
Part is through residence life, part comes from checkbook fund
Marquette WCC
Large goals for the year and how did you work towards them
Individual goals on e-board, but our main goal was to get
people involved. We call ourselves a big family, of all the parts,
the cooperation of every person is needed to get things run
smoothly
Stout WCC
NRHH and RHA relationship
Great relationship since our offices are 3CM apart. A lot of our
e-board is in our NRHH as well. We’re actually doing a

UW-Oshkosh WCC
You’ve mentioned that there were lots of first year students going to
programs? What has SHAC done to promote events?
SHAC goes to the RAs first meetings to help get SHAC’s
names out. We’ve done a lot of tabling as well as posting
flyers throughout residence halls.
UW-Whitewater WCC
WURHA 2012 MINUTES17 FEBRUARY 2012
UW-RIVER FALLSPAGE 14
What was your most successful program and why?
Sex week. We’ve had 250 participants. It’s a weeklong
program and has a program each day. For example we’ve had
awareness programs for the first day. We’ve had a lot of
people come out and get engaged.
UW-Eau Claire WCC
How has SHAC grown from last year to this year and how do you plan
on continuing the growth?
Last year, we didn’t really focus on the opinion of our
residents, this year we’ve had one on one meetings and group
meetings that have done well and keeping people here to stay.
UW-Parkside WCC
Can you explain how SHAC divides the 7 building to different
councils?
Each building has a different amount of residents in it and we
divide the buildings base on numbers into different councils to
make them all equal and to give equal money
UW-Stout WCC
Can you elaborate on the costs for programs?
Prices ranged for each event some are less expensive than
others. It depended on programs itself. For example, battle of
the sexes cost nothing at all, whereas haunted house was
about $100 because there was more involved
UW-River Falls WCC
What was SHACs proudest accomplishment in the last year?
At GLACURH we’ve won 8 different awards and haven’t won
an award in the last 10 years.
UW-Stevens Point
You mentioned trying to reach out to the halls that were further away
from campus, how?
Our office has always been in the main area of campus, but
we put in a new office on the other side of campus that has
helped the students on that side of campus come to our office
hours.

decisions and planning events.

UW-River Falls
You said one goal was to host 2 events a semester, but you had 11
listed. Can you elaborate?
These events happened from last spring until now. This goal is
a new goal. So we’re hoping for more of an attendance in the
spring semester
UW-Eau Claire
How has your RHA grown?
One has been in communication on campus, not only did we
make RHA more of a community, we’ve also made a strong
relationship with NRHH and also filled our subcommittees
UW-Whitewater
How did you get people to sign up for your subcommittees?
WURHA 2012 MINUTES17 FEBRUARY 2012
UW-RIVER FALLSPAGE 16
One big thing we did during our events is that we really
promoted our RHA and just spread the word and talked to
people about RHA. We were short on a couple positions, but
to fill them, we utilized our campus e-mail and informed
students of open positions
Marquette University
Could you speak a little of to why you decided to bid for RHO building
blog instead of large school?
We decided for RHO building block because our RHA has
taken a downturn in the past and we’re working on building
that back up
Carthage College
What is your biggest accomplishment
Our biggest accomplishment is filling all of the spots in RHC
and by doing that we’re enlarging our connections over
campus. If the sub committees are really small, we can’t reach
to the entire campus. It’s more of word of mouth, you can do
so much advertising, but having this word of mouth and line of
communication can make our RHA thrive.

Q/A 14:47
Carthage WCC
Where did you advertise?
We started in all the residence halls in the houses and floors,
about 4 per RA. The larger advertisements were by elevators,
entrances and high traffic areas. The newer posters had a new
look and feel to attract different people. Passives were put
next to posters. Tabling with sample rounds.
Carthage WHIL
What is one of your biggest issues you had, and if you could redo the
program how would you over come it?
One of my biggest issues was getting other RAs excited with
me. To overcome that, I would keep bringing it up in staff
meetings and keep talking about it one on one and elaborate
on how much it means to you.
UW-Stout WCC
Why did the bid did not have letters of recommendation?
Unable to get a staff member of my own to get one for me. I
know it was unfortunate I didn’t have it, but I felt like the
program was strong enough to not have one
UW-La Crosse
Biggest accomplishment?
It brought much more excitement to other programs in the hall
throughout the semester and into this semester
UW-Platteville WHIL
Program is very adaptable for other campus. What would you suggest
to campuses that may not have funding?
You could hopefully ask your RHA and contact something
similar to restaurant operations and ask them to provide the
food or the cafeterias in your university and link that back to
cafeteria saying these options are available at the cafeteria

UW-Parkside WCC
Did you come into any trouble with you dining services with which
foods you could use?
No. Our dining services are rather open and supportive of
putting on programs.
Concordia WCC
What was the timeline for planning the event?
August to November. I had a lot of time issues with other
things being planned in the hall
Marquette University WCC
Plan on doing this again? What next steps are you going to take?
I’ll do different options and take this to a campus wide level
and get the rest of the campus involved to realize we have
these options.
UW-Oshkosh WCC
What kind of lasting effects has this had on the participants?
They’ve been having conversations about options available
out in the city and I’ve gone out with my residents to Beans

UW-RIVER FALLSPAGE 20
Was sustainability ever mentioned during the debriefing of the
program?
It was brought up in discussion when we did the organic
rounds and residents were talking about wanting to bring this
onto campus
UW-Stout WCC
You said you wanted RA volunteers, did you get any more
volunteers?
No, besides my friend. The reason I did that was because I
wanted to keep it in the hall because I wanted to test it
building-wide at first.
UW-Stout bid presentation 15:06
Q/A 15:16
UW-La Crosse WHIL
What was your biggest obstacle?
Coming up with a specific set of words. There was an
enormous plethora of words and we had to select only 10
which is probably one of the biggest obstacles while including
everyone
UW-Platteville WHIL
What was the spark of this program?
This was part two of the “Not here” program. “Not Here” was
created because of some acts of hate and bullying. It took a
spin of where stout was not going tolerate this. However, it
sounds very negative, saying NOT here, so we created
something that could stand for something positive and stand
for something they could be a part of
Carthage WHIL
How can you adapt this program to a smaller budget
WURHA 2012 MINUTES17 FEBRUARY 2012
UW-RIVER FALLSPAGE 21
The biggest thing is that the biggest impact comes from the
information. The visual is where the biggest impact came from.
A smaller school could use their own visual. We used t-shirts
and bumper stickers. You could even just use just bumper
stickers. Our stickers are almost everywhere. It’s a way you
can visually see the program without making it costly.
Carthage WCC
Is this a program that you would even build upon in the future?
I believe so. It is still used within the entire campus community
and it was initially created during fall orientation but it is used
everywhere still so I believe it is something that will be strongly
used on campus
UW-Eau Claire WCC
Were any housing organizations involved?
RHA was involved helped with pledge signing. Housing design
created the visuals, videos, and music. NRHH signed pledges.
The Assistant Director was also on the committee
UW-Stevens Point WHIL
How do you plan on improving this in the future
Keeping the residence halls involved in it.

Why was this targeted to first years?
It was targeted to them because they are strongly encouraged
to go through transition activities. Returners aren’t required.

UW-RIVER FALLSPAGE 22
How was this impacted the students on campus?
Student moral. You couldn’t walk around campus without
seeing an "I stand for" t-shirt on. Many students showcase
their involvement and it brought up many discussions in hall
meetings and still seeing these students wear these t-shirts
and have their bumper stickers backing up the purpose
UW-Whitewater WHIL
How many volunteers did you have and how did you go about
recruiting?
The Ally center had many students who volunteered with them
and manned the pledge tables. Housing students helped.
Orientation leaders assisted. Anybody who wanted to help was
more than welcome to.
Marquette University WCC
How long did it take to plan the event and can you speak to specific
steps?
Planning began the beginning of last summer. Planned
throughout the summer and put on in the fall. Small group that
headed up the committee who wanted to find a way to make
stout and inclusive campus. The committee grew and
individuals from all areas on campus jumped on board. From
there, student volunteers were added. Posters and individuals
in the video, showed the video and got students to sign
pledges, showcased pledges and ad posters displayed on
campus
UW-River Falls WCC
What student leaders were initially involved?
Student leaders from ally center, housing staff, all students on
posters were selected as people who were thought
represented those traits well. Professors assisted, housing
design staff, and past RAs.
Viterbo WCC
Did you conduct surveys or interviews showing results that anything
has been reduced?
WURHA 2012 MINUTES17 FEBRUARY 2012
UW-RIVER FALLSPAGE 23
Our main evaluation so far has been solely word of mouth.
Students are praising the program and there has only been
positive feedback, but we have not thought about taking a
survey
Carthage WHIL
How many students that were not first-years participated?
On the pledge, it doesn’t ask what year a student is, it just
asks to sign your name, what you stand for, and to sign the
pledge. It was a way to include everybody, but it was signed
by 800+ students and we’re proud that the Stout community is
proud of the program
Carthage WCC
Did you receive any negative feedback? What is something you would
change?
I have not personally heard any negative feedback. Nothing
has been brought up. As far as changing the program, I think
just to have a continuation to make sure and maybe create
things that can be promoted more towards the end of the
semester. Right now, it’s a kick off, but something geared
more to the end of the spring semester to make sure they
keep these initiatives in mind so that they keep these values in
their own communities would be very beneficial as well.
