WACN Provides Global Leadership:

West Africa Catering continues to provide leadership in the remote site catering industry thanks to the productiv-ity of WACN team members. Years ago it was unheard-of for a Nigerian catering company to send culinary staff on foreign assignments. It was a widely held belief, by global customers, that the culinary expertise of French, Italian, English or American nationals were superior to the culinary standards held in Nigeria. Today, after 13 years of operations, while conforming to all local content requirements, it is WACN, a fully owned Nigerian National Catering Company that is sending team members into foreign lands to mobilize oil & gas vessels scheduled to work in Nigeria. Our clients’ deci-sion to select our Nigerian national team members for foreign assignments is rooted in our culinary, housekeep-ing and mobilization performance processes and stan-dards. Our company’s focus on continuous improve-ment and exceeding the expectations of our customer

have propelled us into a position of being recognized for having high global operational standards.

WACN has now sent Nigerian Team Members into Euro-pean, Asian and African locations, with high client satis-faction reviews. Our most recent 3 month sojourn into Korea, Singapore and South Africa on the Pacific Drilling Khamsin, which has a feature story in this publication, will soon be followed by a similar mobilization project offshore Spain.

This is a highly prized achievement that we should all pause to recognize. To be a company of choice for for-eign assignments signifies that our company perfor-mance is of the highest global standards. We should each be proud to have earned the confidence and trust of our customers both in Nigeria and abroad and we must strive daily to maintain this status.

In addition to these overseas mobilization assignments, we were recently asked to consider a joint venture opera-tion outside Nigeria, where WACN would be the operat-ing partner. No doubt, this offer is due to our excellent reputation and leadership in the culinary and remote site services business. While the project’s due-diligence process is in its early stages, it is quite an honor to have been approached for such a project. We’ll keep you posted on any positive developments as they occur.

While Nigeria will always be our home, it appears the commitment to our core values has offered more oppor-tunities both at home and abroad. These opportunities will give all our staff a greater opportunity to grow indi-vidually and within the company. However, it is up to each individual team member to rise to the occasion and strive for personal growth within our organization.

Yours in Service,Fidelis A. Ene

From October 22nd thru 25th West Africa Catering team members worked diligently to provide food service for thousands of people who were participants in and guest of the “Oil and Gas Trade and Investment Forum” in Onne. The conference and exhibition brought together thou-sands of senior level decision and policy makers from the global oil and gas industry, and focused on trade and investment opportunities in Nigeria and the oil and gas sector, particularly the Onne Oil and Gas Free Zone. Par-ticipants had the opportunity to learn about Free Zone investment opportunities, hear from Nigerian dignitaries including the Minister of Trade and Investment, network with top global executives and key decision makers, and explore new products and suppliers from a range of exhib-iting companies. WACN team members were called on to provide refresh-ments and food services throughout the event. On the 22nd the Forum hosted a wonderful Community Carni-val / Music Concert where our team members provided lunch and refreshments for 1,000 people. On the 23rd a Kite Festival with exhibition flying, Brazilian dancers and a

comedian were augmented by our team members serving dinner and refreshments for 1,500 people. On the 24th the Food Festival / Music Concerts was enhanced with cof-fee, tea and snacks for 3,000 people, lunch for 3,000 peo-ple followed by a wonderful food festival dinner for 1,400 people. The Food Festival dinner was highlighted by Leba-nese, Indian, French, Italian, American, Chinese and Nige-rian cuisine. October 25th began with our team members serving coffee, tea and snacks to 3,000 people; followed by lunch for 3,000 people. The evening of the 25th was when the forum hosted their anniversary Gala Night, highlighted by an address from the Chairman of Orlean Invest, Mr. Gabriele Volpi; following by entertainment from Interna-tional and National music stars and fireworks. The Gala Night event included a Jubilee dinner for 100 VVIP guests and 8,100 additional guests.

Our role in this event took months of planning, procure-ment, staging and preparation, prior to the service dates. The effort put forth by all team members to execute excel-lent food and hospitality services at this event is greatly appreciated. Thanks to all team members who played a role in making this forum such a successful event.

On August 17th a WACN crew of 21 team members arrived at the Sam-sung Heavy Industries (SHI) shipyard in Geoje, South Korea with the mis-sion of preparing the living quarters and galley on board the Pacific Drill-ing Khamsin to host 200 residents during its maiden voyage to Nigeria. The Khamsin, a newly built ultra-deep water drilling ship contracted to drill its first well for Chevron Nigeria Lim-ited, was years in the making and now ready for delivery to Pacific Drilling. Pacific Drilling, a valued customer to WACN, selected our company as the first catering company to board the vessel after receiving it from SHI. Our involvement with the Khamsin began six months prior to boarding the vessel. In February 2013 we began plan-ning the mobilization process by sur-veying the vessel and vetting potential business associates in Korea. The proj-ect proceeded with equipment recom-mendations and the ordering of capital expenditure items for the living quarters and galley. Selecting and ordering con-sumable supplies for the long voyage to Nigeria was the final ordering step in the mobilization process.

Our team, who traveled to Korea to board the vessel, was selected months prior to our crew’s scheduled arrival in Korea. This lead time was necessary to fully prepare our team with all the proper travel and work documents. In addition, our crew traveled to Lagos several days prior to departing for Korea to participate in Pacific Drilling’s 3-day safety training courses. Our team members’ journey from Lagos to the SHI shipyard in Korea took approximately 36 hours.

WACN team members participated in additional safety training at the SHI shipyard before boarding the Kham-sin. With our crew on board, equip-ment and supplies on deck our crew began the long and arduous process of staging all housekeeping, laundry, galley and office equipment and sup-plies; making the ship quarters ready for WACN to begin providing service.

A big thanks goes out to the WACN team members who participated in the mobilization of the Khamsin. Everyone involved was called on to work above and beyond the duties expected on a typical working job site.

The Pacific Drilling crew assigned to the Khamsin gave our staff a warm

welcome in Korea. And once we began preparing and serving Nigerian and Western meals, all on board were delighted. Our entire teams’ efforts were recognized and appreciated by the Pacific Drilling staff.

The vessel departed Korea, sailed to Singapore then Cape Town, South Africa for resupply before finally sailing for Nigerian waters. The Khamsin began working in Nigerian waters for Chevron Nigeria Limited in September.

We are extremely proud of our team for the smooth mobilization of ser-vices on board the Khamsin. Con-gratulations on a job well done. Of course to stay on top takes hard work and continuous improvement; so let’s keep up the good work.

From: PSO - Quality and Training Advisor Sent: Tuesday, June 25, 2013 4:21 PMTo: PSO - Camp Boss – West Africa Catering Subject: Excellent Standards

Afternoon,

Just wanted to express my thanks to you and your staff.

This is my first trip onboard and I was unsure what to expect as this is my first time in Nigeria.

However I was very pleasantly surprised, I have worked for many companies all around the world and this is the best so far.

The food is of a very high standard and presented very well, the serving crew are very helpful and polite.

The accommodation is spotless and the laundry is always at your door in the morning.

The way in which WAC assist the rig may not be noticed by some but I for one have witnessed on previous rigs that if the food and accommodation is not good the moral onboard is poor and I can safely say, that is not the case on here.

Thanks Again. Craig
