Comments From Past Participants: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jeenny Rolon (Ibanez) D4845 Argentina/Paraguay wrote in January 2014: “We arrived in San Diego very well “We are grateful for all they gave us. Never in such a short time have we met so many good people and beautiful places, much

knowledge about the culture and customs of a place. It is impossible just words show what we feel and hope to have the opportunity to give back, at least a part , of all that we received throughout our visit to Rochester. Special, thanks to you David and Judy, Tony and Mariane, and all members of the district, who received us and treated us like old friends. This program Hospitality is excep-tional and It is an example to all Rotary community to be applied in other parts of the world. It serves to make friends, to know other cultures, but above all to realize that regardless of where we come from the essence of Rotary is the same expressed in other languages, there never were nor will be a barrier with translators or gestures we always understand. Thanks for everything. This will live forever in our hearts.”

———————————————————————————————————————————————————- Lynn Mason put it simply after their visit in 1995; “It was a most wonderful experience – to have the opportunity to live in peo-

ple’s homes and share their lives for a few days, it’s the sort of experience that not many tourists have. We feel we have made real friends.”

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I have been a Rotarian since 1963 and have 38 years of perfect attendance (bona fide-no phony substitutes). I have attended sev-

eral District conferences and hosted PDG Andy Haynes conference in 1967 while serving as President of the Clifton Springs Rotary Club.

All of these pale and become mere shadows of the past when compared to the most memorable Rotary experience of my life-time now that I have experienced the joy of participating in the Milt Matthews Host Program

Hellon and David Retchless, Clifton Springs RC, 1/28/2007 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DG Ellen Hughes wrote: I never appreciated the Milt Mathews DGE Hosting until I was DGE. We hosted a DGE from Australia

to whom we became very close in such a few days. Even more amazing was the connection our district now had with 20 other districts worldwide. As I attended the International

Assembly I was greeted numerous times by other DGE who had been in District 7120. Although I had spoken but a few words at the brunch we had, they all seemed to remember I was from Rochester and were eager to renew acquaintance and thank me for the won-derful experience they had here.

It was wonderful to be greeted with warmth and friendship numerous times as I entered a plenary session or a meal attended by over 1000 people. I did not have to look for people I know....I could sit anywhere and be with friends.

This program is truly a quiet gem that gives our District a positive image worldwide and presents us with a wealth of international partners to choose from who are all known to us.

Much as Youth Exchange changes the world one student at a time, so the Milt Mathews DGE Hospitality Program creates inter-national friends one DGE at a time.

I encourage all to participate. The life you change will most likely be your own! Ellen Hughes, Dg 7120, 1/30/2014

arrival and takes them to their home. During the week all of the guests and hosts attend a Fellowship Lunch co-hosted by District 7120 and the Brighton Rotary Club

. When the meeting is over the guests leave with their second host for the balance of their stay. The following pages include some of this year’s activities. If you are an alumnus of our hospitality program we hope this issue

brings back fond memories, and that you will be reminded to recommend our program to your next Governor Elect. If you are a Governor Elect we hope this newsletter will entice you to sign up for our hospitality program. To contact us see page 8.

Several groups of hosts and DGE's went to Niagara Falls on Friday. Some stopped at Denny's Restaurant in Victor before heading to the Falls. Some went in the morning - some went in the aft5ernoon - but we all seemed to congregate at the Hard Rock Café for lunch. Temperature was in single digits F - plus his winds and mist from the falls made it a cold day but the winter scenery was great and all had a great time - and a unique experience.

Chairman’s Note We have just completed another successful hosting program for the District 7120 Milt Matthews Governor Elect Hos-pitality Program. I know I speak for all of the Rotarians in District 7120 when I thank all of the Governor Elects and guests who shared their thoughts on Rotary with us. During the course of the program you became friends with all of us. These are friendships that wil last a lifetime and are the living embodiment of the Four Way Test and our Rotary motto of 'Service Above Self.' Please share your experiences with Rotarians in your district and we hope to see your 2015-2016 Governor Elect with us next year." Dave Luitweiler Chair, D-7120 MMGEHP Victor-Farmington Rotary Club
