A Colorful Marketplace with ImpactThank you for joining us for the American Craft Show in Atlanta. Simply by being here, you’re supporting artists, makers, and craftspeople in their livelihood and helping invigorate our craft community. As a national nonprofit organization, the American Craft Council believes passionately in the power of craft to make our lives better, and American Craft Shows are one of the many ways we connect people to the world of making.

Our shows are more than just marketplaces. They’re vibrant public forums that inspire us in our creative lives. We hope you will discover something beautiful and unique to take home, and we encourage you to take time to talk to the artists about their work. Along with the various programs you’ll experience at the show – Let’s Make, Hip Pop Emerging Artists, School-to-Market, the Awards of Excellence, and more – we’ve also been exploring new ways to engage the craft community while we’re here, such as hosting curator-tours of the show floor and morning meet-ups for show artists.

Our ability to create dynamic gatherings like this one, as well as to publish American Craft (the only magazine in the US devoted to craft in all its mediums), maintain our special library and archives, and more, are made possible by the generous support of our members, donors, and partners. We hope you will take a moment to stop by the ACC Welcome Area and learn more about what we do – we’d love to say “hi!” Lastly, thank you to the city of Atlanta for warmly welcoming us for a 31st year.

On behalf of all of us at the ACC, welcome to the show. We look forward to celebrating craft with you.

Sarah SchultzExecutive DirectorAmerican Craft Council

Let’s Make creates space for inspirationInteract with artists and organizations committed to making craft a vibrant part of our communities at our Let’s Make Inspiration Stations on the show floor. Learn how artists create their work, try your hand at making something, and discover why making matters now more than ever.

Inspiration Station 1Let’s Make Clay CreationsLook on in awe as potters from Callanwolde Fine Arts Center create forms on the potter’s wheel and using hand-building and sculptural techniques. When possible, members of the audience may be invited to give clay a try.

Inspiration Station 2Let’s Make More WoodchipsCheer on accomplished wood artists from the Georgia Association of Woodturners who transform wood into awe-inspiring, functional works of art right in front of your eyes: honey dippers, spinning tops, small bowls, and more.

Inspiration Station 3Let’s Make Our Own TextilesNo one is too old, too young, too inexperienced, or too experienced to take part in the fun and the delightful joy of creating textiles. Join the Southeast Fiber Arts Alliance to create your own small treasure from yarn, thread, fabric, and fiber.

Inspiration Station 4Let’s Make More CommunityThe Homestead Atlanta re-acquaints people with the power of their hands, the depth of their creativity, and their capacity to be innovative producers rather than passive consumers. Stop by to explore everything from leather working to herbal medicine, metal craft to natural dyeing.

Support regional craft talentThe South Carolina Arts Commission (SCAC) Pop-Up showcases six artists from the Palmetto State whose work honors the old while embracing the new in unexpected and imaginative ways. For more than 50 years, SCAC has worked to ensure a climate in which artists are valued and remain at the core of South Carolina’s creative economy.

The six makers included in the Pop-Up are some of the best South Carolina artists working in their respective craft medium. Their work highlights some of the predominant trends taking place in South Carolina: tradition, innovation, social justice, technology, entrepreneurship, and upcycling.

Hip Pop welcomes emerging artists into a community of exhibitorsThis five-year track program is designed to provide an accessible pathway for emerging artists to take the next step in turning their craft into a livelihood. Hip Pop introduces 156 artists to the ACC marketplace each year, with the ACC underwriting portions of their expenses and supplying them with booth structures and support for the weekend. We also match Hip Pop artists with seasoned artists for a mentoring partnership.

In Atlanta, we’re excited to have 24 artists exhibiting through the program. Their shared booths are marked in pink on the map.
