The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has created a global crisis whichhas impacted all aspects of life and badly affected the world of work. In themaritime sector, it has severely disrupted the functioning of shipping andaffected the work of nearly 2 million seafarers worldwide.

This circular aim to respond to such requests by stakeholders referringto the statutory compliance in respect of payments of subscription of providentFund/Gratuity of seafarers to the office of SPFO/SWFS in the aforesaidcurrent circumstances.

In this connection it is bring to the notice of all concerned that the paymentof monthly subscription of provident fund of seafarers to the office of Seamen'sProvident Fund Organisation (SPFO) can also be made online throughRTGS/NEFI. The account details of SPFO are as under:

Further, in the aforesaid circumstances, seafarers desiring withdrawalsfrom their provident fund account may send an e-mail attaching therewith asimple one page application duly signed by them to spfoac@smail.com.

The proforma of application is attached as Annexure-l with thisCircular. The proforma of application can also be downloaded from officialwebsite of the SPFO www.spfo.gov.in

The payment of withdrawal shall be remitted into the bank account ofthe seafarers online through RTGS/NEFT.

This issues with the approval of the competent authority.
