Branches:Areactuallybranchesofthemaxillarynerve.(1) Orbital branches:passes through the inferior orbital fissure tosupplytheorbitalperiosteum.(2)Pharyngealbranch:passesbackwardsthroughthepalatovaginal(3)GrealerpaLa>nenerve:(4) Lesser pala>ne nerves: descends through the lesser pala<ne,canal and comeout through lesserpala<ne foramen to supply themucousmembraneofthesoWpalateandpala<netonsil.(5) Long sphenopala>ne (nasopala>ne): Passes through thesphenopala<ne foramento reach thenasalcavity, crosses the roofof the nose and descends obliquely on nasal septum. Its terminalpartpassesthroughtheincisivecanaltosupplytheanteriorpartoftheoralsurfaceofthehardpalate.(6) Short spenopala-ne: passes through the sphenopala<neforamentoreachthenose.itsuppliesthemucousmembraneoftheupperpartofthelateralwallofthenose.
