AGSD is a recipient of a Carl D. Perkins professional development grant. This grant allows us to facilitate a training workshop for teachers across the interior of Alaska. Participants will meet in Tok School and access the district 's industrial greenhouse, modern hydroponic unit and work with the Charlie Cart, a mobile kitchen offering lessons from the greenhouse- to-table.
This opportunity is suitable for;
- Career and Technical Education teachers, - Teachers supporting learning within agricultural
fields and Arctic Agribusiness.
The institute will offer personalized learning for each applicant, assisting individuals to create opportunities in their school environments.
Workshop Objectives
- Gain working knowledge of greenhouse and hydroponic operation through small group instruction and hands-on lab experiences.
- Build a portable hydroponic system- Utilize a culinary art curriculum with students
