FROM THE PRESBYTER'S DESK

May the Almighty Lord bless us all

Dearly Beloved in Christ,

Greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Redeemer Jesus Christ.

“You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to

them.” Desmond Tutu

As a Church this month is very important as our 21 Children are becoming

eligible members of the Church as they will be sharing the Lord's Table. The

Church is a family, we have the responsibility to take care of these children as

they grow up, we should give them all the Spiritual as well as moral guidance so

that not a single child of our family is lost in this worldly whirlpool. It is very well

advised in Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a Child in the way he should go, and when he

is old he will not depart from it.”

Family and each member of the family are unique. God has a unique design and

plan for each family, he has set us in such a frame that one person compliments

the other. To fulfill His plan He has assigned roles to each person. This can be

met only when a person comes to Christ as it's in Col. 3, that the relation with

Christ should affect each and everything in an individual's life.

·Responsibility of Wife towards her Husband: Col 3:18, says the Wife to

be submissive to Husband. The word submissive does not mean inferiority; it

means to give or offer something for a decision. Submission does not imply that

the wife is less than the husband, for the Scripture clearly proclaims the equality

of all in Christ. Our equality and unity in Christ does not remove our roles. Wife

should love her husband. The perfect model for a wife is the Lord's submission.

He was never inferior or less in comparison to God the Father, however he

willfully submits to His Father. In the same way, the wife must submit to her

husband because it is fitting in Lord. She should pray for him, she should

encourage him in the role of leadership and not nag him.

·Husband's responsibility towards to His Wife: He should be protective

towards his wife. He should love his wife as Christ loves the Church. Christ knew

that the Church is Sinful and is disobedient yet knowing her faults He gives His

life for her. Same way the husband should accept his wife as she is and try to

change her through his prayer and sacrificial love.

·Children's Responsibility towards parents: The importance of obedience

to parents is seen by it being in the Ten Commandments. It says, “Honor your

father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is

giving you” Exodus 20:12. Obeying parents pleases God. Love your parents.

· Parents should love their

children but do not forget them to be disciplined. Should provide encouragement

and corrections when they fail instead of scolding them. Should not neglect them

instead express your affection.

There is no magic in having a perfect-happy family life. But initiatives from every

member can build healthy and happy family which God wants us to enjoy.

ØBe there when your family needs you.

ØExpress your affection, warmth, encouragement and resentment.

ØDiscipline should be there without any nagging.

ØCommunicate well with one another. Be transparent.

ØPlay together.

ØEnergize your families spiritual life by having an own time for devotion and

also having a family prayer.

On 17th September we will have our Family Sunday along with the Confirmation

service. The Most Rev. Thomas K. Oommen, Moderator, Church of South India

will be the Chief Celebrant for the Holy Communion service. As your vicar I

request every member to attend the worship service and pray for the same. Also

uphold all the activities and arrangements in your prayers.

Parent's Responsibility towards Children:
