The Archbishop’s Annual Appeal provides help to
those in need! Together, we can and do make a
profound difference in the lives of many individuals and
families, in a way that exceeds anything we could hope to
achieve on our own. Please consider supporting this important
initiative. Every gift makes a difference. Organizations such as
Saint Gabriel Summer School Camp Program, CRIS Radio,
(purchase of Internet Radios), and Easter Seals Capital
Region of Eastern CT– Veterans Initiative, right here in our
own town received funding from the Appeal’s Vicariate
Outreach Program which serves our local neighbors.
All funds contributed to the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal are
used exclusively for the purposes outlined in the Appeal
l i terature, which can be found at https ://
archdioceseofhartford.org/aaa-2019-last-years-appealimpact/
No Appeal funds are ever used for legal fees or settlements.

currently active in their faith. It is our hope that those who are invited
will enjoy the dinner and fellowship, and that they will begin to recognize
the value of parish life. As St. Francis said, “Preach the Gospel and
occasionally use words.”
If you have someone in mind that you would like to invite to the dinner
with the hope of awakening their faith, please contact Mark Regan at
860-539-7286.

Today is the Sixth Sunday of Easter
In today’s Gospel reading, Jesus tells his Apostles that “the
Advocate, the holy Spirit that the Father will send in my name - he
will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give
it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.”
What does Jesus mean when he says that he gives us peace but not as the
world gives it? Jesus' peace means his presence in our lives.
The Holy Spirit and peace go together - peace is one of the
fruits of the Holy Spirit.
When you share a sign of peace with people at Mass you are doing much more
than saying “hi” to them. When we share a sign of peace and say “Christ's
peace be with you” we are telling people that our biggest wish is that Jesus is
always present in their heart.
This Thursday, May 30
th
we will celebrate the feast of the Ascension of the Lord
We learn about events that happened before we were born
from the people who were there who remember and talk
about the events. How do we know about Jesus’ ministry,
Death, Resurrection, and Ascension that happened over
2,000 years ago? We read about them in the Bible, we
hear about them at Mass, and our parents, priests, deacons
or teachers tell us about them.
On Thursday, we will celebrate the Ascension of the Lord,
(a holy day of obligation), the day when Jesus was raised up
to heaven by God. Listen carefully to hear what Jesus
asked of his disciples before he was taken up to heaven.
Before Jesus ascended into heaven to be with God the Father, he gave the
disciples important instructions. What were those instructions?
Who are some people who have taught you about Jesus? Pray for all those who
share God’s Word as Jesus taught us to do.
Answer: Jesus told the disciples to tell people all over the world about His life,
Death, Resurrection, and Ascension. He also told them to preach repentance -
which means to turn our hearts away from sin and turn back to God - and
forgiveness of sins.
