Adoration Committee

The adoration committee would like to thank everyone who

has come to adore our Lord in our new adoration chapel.

We will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. You

are still welcome to come sit before the tabernacle, but the

Lord will NOT be exposed in the monstrance.

Prayer for the Third Week of Advent

(three candles are lit including the pink one)

LEADER: As we draw near to you, Lord God, keep us aware

of your presence in all we do. Come with power to enlighten

us by your grace, that we may live in praise and peace all our

days. We ask this through Christ our Lord. ALL: Amen.

* * * * * * * *

This Christmas, focus not on the gifts and presents, but on the

Gift and the Presence; focus not on the lights, but on the Light;

not on the glitter and sparkle, but on the simplicity and ease with

which this child comes into the world, inviting you and me to see

with the eyes and mind and heart of God Himself. Receive from

Him the Spirit of Christmas that will keep you the whole year

through. Come, joyful and triumphant, singing the hymn of the

ages that resounds in our hearts: the Lord is come!

Featuring the Wethersfield High School Choralaires

Our Music Director, Mr. Scott Rioux invites all to attend.

A reception will follow in Father Doherty Hall.

It is customary and fitting to remember

loved ones who have died with memorial

donations to a favorite cause or charity. In

this way, the memory of the deceased is honored and a good

work, either civic or religious, is perpetuated. There are

numerous charities that have been traditionally designated for

such purpose.

At times, we are also offered donations to these funds to honor

particular individuals at special times of the year or to

commemorate an event in their lives.

We are grateful to the following who have donated to St.

Joseph Remembrance Fund:

Ann Hickey

Kathy & Ted O’ Brien

Faith & Robert Brousseau

Corey & Margaret Levasseur

The term "Advent" comes from the Latin language

meaning "arrival." Through prayer, we can connect with

God’s grace and love in asking Him to ready our hearts

as He prepared all of history to receive the gift of His

Son. Pray to the Father for focus and devotion

during Advent to cut away the distractions and

make your life a place of warmth and faith.

Celebrate the arrival and glory of Christ!

In today’s Gospel reading, we find that John had been put in jail

because there were people who didn’t like that he was telling

people to repent for their sins, and that the Messiah was coming.

John sent his followers to Jesus to ask if he was the one God promised to send.

Listen to the Gospel to hear what Jesus answered.

Jesus answered John's question by telling him how he was doing his job. What was Jesus

doing? He was performing miracles. Then Jesus told the people how John was doing the job he

was given. John the Baptist was not interested in the things of this world, like having a nice home

and fine clothes. And he was even willing to go to prison to do the job God gave him.

Jesus called John the greatest person ever born and said that when we do what God wants us to

do, we too will be great in heaven someday.

Today we light two purple candles and the pink candle of our Advent wreaths. Pink is a color of joy

and shows that we are joyfully looking forward to celebrating the birth of Jesus!
