Curtin Association of Medical Students
(CAMS) is the official representative
body for medical students at Curtin
Medical School. Established in 2017,
CAMS is the newest medical students’
society in Western Australia,
representing the State’s only
undergraduate MBBS program. We
regularly engage with our members
and faculty staff to provide the best
learning environment for our students.
Furthermore, we are extensively
involved with larger representative
bodies, including the Australian
Medical Association WA (AMA WA)
and Australian Medical Students’
Association (AMSA).
Our students come from a range of
metropolitan and rural backgrounds,
from both Western Australia and
interstate. We pride ourselves on our
welcoming and positive culture,
encouraging participation and
excellence in academia and
extracurricular activities. We offer a
wide range of events and opportunities
for students, supported by our
Academic, Sports, Social, Mental
Health, IT, and Publications Directors
with the leadership of the Executive
Committee.
CAMS expresses its gratitude to our
sponsors who support our dynamic
engagement with the students we
represent. We hope to continue to
work together with our sponsors to
achieve our shared goals and values.
About Us
3
The interaction and relationships
formed between sponsors and our
student doctors is something that we
firmly believe will truly last beyond
university and into their medical
careers. Within the next few years,
Curtin Medical School will be
producing over 100 medical graduates
each year, who are looking to set
themselves up financially and
professionally, and by 2022 there will
be over 500 medical students who are
members of CAMS. We strongly
believe that this is where your
company could become involved and
can capitalise on this golden
opportunity, to benefit both your
organisation and our medical
graduates.
Sponsoring CAMS provides the unique
opportunity of building longstanding
relationships with medical students
who will ultimately form the next
generation of doctors in Australia and
shape the leadership of the health
professional workforce. As the degree
in Curtin is an MBBS, it provides
sponsors with the opportunity of
engaging with medical students
throughout all five years of their
degree, and into their internship and
residency.
With numerous events to become
involved in and varying levels of
commitment, there is truly an
opportunity for any company of any
size to get involved. We hope that the
following few pages will inspire you to
join our family.
Why Sponsor Us?
4
We would like to take the time to thank
our generous sponsors of 2019 – the
year would not have been possible
without their support!
Previous Sponsors
5
On behalf of CAMS, I would like to
thank you for considering the
opportunity to get involved with us in
2020. I am incredibly fortunate to
have been a part of CAMS for the past
two years and have watched it grown
immensely, as a young society, since
then. We are so fortunate to have a
truly dynamic and enthusiastic team
with us, ready to take on 2020, with
many exciting ideas for events and
opportunities for sponsors to get
involved with.
We hope, throughout this year, to run a
diverse portfolio of events, spanning
from academics to socials, to mental
health and wellbeing. Through these
events, we hope to engage our
members and provide them with a
platform where they can enjoy their
time at medical school, find support,
and have the opportunity to network
with other members of society, to help
them become well-rounded future
doctors. At these events, our members
will also have the opportunity to meet
and engage with the sponsors that
made the events possible.
We are hoping to form mutually
beneficial relationships with our
sponsors and provide current and
future students the chance to discover
new opportunities and form valuable
networks with our sponsors. I look
forward to meeting you all and working
with you in 2020.
Kind regards,
Crystal Vong
President CAMS 2020
Welcome From the President
6
Welcome to the 2020 Prospectus for
the Curtin Association of Medical
Students (CAMS). We are delighted
that you are interested in partnering
with our society in 2020, and we
hope that you will find something in
the following pages that aligns with
your vision.
Though we are a young medical
society, CAMS has already provided
numerous events that allow our
members to connect and socialise
with each other outside of their
coursework, empower them with new
exciting opportunities in medicine
and to help them further engage with
their academic studies, all with the
goal of enriching their student
experience. Some of these initiatives
include mental health brunches,
cocktail nights and mock OSCEs, all
of which have been platforms for
sponsors to speak at.
In 2020, we are once again looking to
expand our selection of events to
include an Interyear Mixer, a Movie
Night combined with a Winter
Sleepout and a Clinical Skills
Workshop. Through these events, we
hope to create an environment for
students to destress from their
studies, prepare them for upcoming
exams, and to network with key
sponsors and fellow students alike.
As the representative student body of
the only undergraduate medical
program in WA, CAMS is fast
becoming one of the most rapidly
expanding medical societies in
Australia, with student numbers to
hit 320 in 2020. Through your
support, we hope to be able to
continue the efforts we have made in
the past 3 years to engage with and
inform the next generation of doctors
in WA.
The opportunities to partner with us
are abundant and can be easily
tailored to something that suits you
and provides you value. I am happy
to explore any queries or suggestions
that you may you have or meet up in
person for a chat, so please do not
hesitate to get in contact with me.
Kind regards,
Angela Yang

school from fellow students in Years 2-
4.
Sponsors will be able to give a short
presentation at the beginning of the
event to talk about your organisation
and your involvement with medical
students and can set up a booth and
mingle with the students for the rest of

incoming medical students to a shine a
light on what the organisation actually
does and all the ways to get involved in
extracurricular activities! Finger food
will be provided. This will

introduce themselves and say a few
words at the beginning of the session

any promotional materials you may
have.

and will be open to all students
interested in undertaking an elective or
learning more about it.

Date: October 2020 (~31st)
Mock Objective Structured Clinical
Examinations (OSCEs) will take place
3 – 4 weeks prior to the true OSCE
assessment and is run for second year
students on a Saturday or Sunday. This
day is vital for their preparation for the
end-of-year OSCE, and is possibly our
most important academic event of the
year. The circuits are based upon the
official Curtin Medical School OSCE
and have a morning and afternoon
session with a lunch intermission.
The event is structured so that it is self-
sufficient, with first year medical
students acting as simulated patients,
and third and fourth year students
volunteering as examiners.
Approximately 40 places will be
available to second year students. We
may also invite senior medical students
from other universities to assist if
necessary. This provides a prime
opportunity for sponsors to get
involved with such high exposure
numbers!
Cost: $600, Inclusions:
• Mid to late October 2020 (~31st)
• Exposure to ~100 medical students
from Yrs 1-4
• Opportunity to talk and mingle with
students during lunch
• Set up a promotional booth and
deliver a 5 – 10 minute
presentation

all advertising material for the
Mock OSCEs, recognised and

Date: Sponsor’s Discretion
An information session is the optimal
way to directly reach out to our
members to promote your
organisation. A food spread can easily
be organized through CAMS, which is
always very popular amongst students.
Information sessions are ideal to get
face-to-face interaction, and especially
for membership sign-up opportunities
and to build a relationship with the
medical students. We can arrange a
room for you to set up your
promotional materials and provide
access to a projector and AV for any
keynote presentation that you may
wish to present. We are also able to
tailor the lunch/evening to a particular
year if you’re after a certain target
audience or we can open it up to all
four years.
Cost: $500, Inclusions:
• Exposure to 50 – 80 medical
students from Yrs 1-4
• Sponsor’s choice of date & time to
maximise attendee numbers
• Catering provided by CAMS
(included in sponsorship cost)
• Opportunity to set up a booth and
bring along promotional material
• Promotional posts on our social
media platforms and our private
Facebook group tagging the
sponsor
• Possibility of either a Q&A type
session or a keynote information
session – tailored to your needs
• Access to AV and projector

Date: March, May, August,
September & October 2020
With such alarming statistics regarding
mental health, our health and
wellbeing representatives have taken a
focus on how to reduce stress at
university. One way we hope to tackle
this is with breakfasts to give everyone
the chance to totally unwind, relax and
maintain some semblance of a social
life. Whether it is chocolate milk and
fruit for breakfast, we’re strong
believers in the importance of mental
health and taking a break once in a
while.
We would love your support on such an
important issue and in return any posts
and advertising about the event will
have your company included in
promotional material. These events are
free to all of our members and you are
more than welcome to come along and
say a few words.
Historically, this event has been
popular amongst sponsors as well as
students! In 2020, we are also looking
to expand this to our Midland hospital
campus for our clinical students. If this
is something that interests you, please
get in contact.
Cost: $300, Inclusions:
• Exposure to 50 – 60 medical
students from Yrs 1- 4
• Catering provided by CAMS
(included in sponsorship cost)
• Opportunity to introduce yourself

• Opportunity to bring along

Mental Health Brunches

Date: Early October 2020 (~8th)
The Mental Health Panel is an
important event that we host during
Mental Health Week. In 2018, we had
speakers from Youth Focus, WAGPET
and CMS, and the night runs largely as
a Q&A panel, tackling major issues
surrounding mental health and the
stigmas of mental health in both
medical students and doctors. This
event is close to our hearts and
strongly aligns with our values and key
aims as a society to support our
members. The sponsor for this event
would receive time to introduce
themselves prior to the panel
commencing, sit in on the event, and
enjoy Zambreros after the event to
interact and mingle with students.
Logos and advertising will all also be
included on various posters and social
media platforms.
The ‘You can’t ask that’ panel was
premiered in 2019 with resounding
success. Students were able to submit
anonymous questions to a panel of
individuals with knowledge of
LGBTQI+ issues and have them
answered. This event was facilitated in
collaboration with CAMS’ Queer
Representative.
Cost: $350, Inclusions:
• Exposure to 40 – 50 medical
students from Yrs 1-4
• Opportunity to introduce yourself
and say a few words
• Catering provided by CAMS
(included in sponsorship cost)

awareness for homelessness. Proceeds
raised from the Sleepout will go to
charities which support people
suffering from homelessness globally.

Gala Ball
Date: October 2020
The Gala Ball held in October is the
biggest social event on the CAMS
calendar, bringing together the entire
medical school and their partners. It is
last event for our members to destress
before they enter exam season.
In 2020, we anticipate 200 – 250
attendees, with the vast majority of
them being CAMS members. This will
attract engagement from the entire
medical school as it is one of the few
events where fourth years will be
guaranteed to attend.
Gala Ball is an excellent opportunity
for sponsors to attend, introduce
themselves and say a few words as well
as bring along promotional material/a
booth and have their logo featured on
promotional material such as social
media posts and photobooth prints for
the evening. They will ultimately have
the chance to strengthen their

Merchandise
In 2020, CAMS is looking to once
again expand on the sports jerseys that
were produced in 2018. These jerseys
are worn by all members at sporting
events representing CAMS (e.g. Curtin
University games, CAMS Inter-year
Tournament). They are also regularly
worn by some of our members!
There is the potential for sponsors to
get involved here if they wish to
subsidise a particular clothing item to
make it free for our members for
AMSA National Convention. We are
expecting a delegation of 30 – 50
students who will be travelling to
Melbourne for Convention. All the
designing will be taken care of by our
Merchandise Officer, however we will
keep you in the loop with designs, so
that you are also happy with the final
product and your logos are
appropriately displayed. This is an
exciting area for CAMS and we are very
open to any suggestions/collaboration
ideas that you may have in regard to
merchandise.
Sports Jerseys:
• Exposure to all medical students
and can be readily purchased
• Sponsor logo on the either the
front or both sleeves
• Recognition of sponsor in
promotional posts
• Logos will be produced on all sports
jerseys for two years (until end of
2021)
Cost: $300 (sleeves), $500
(front)
AMSA Convention Merchandise:
• To be worn by 30 – 50 students
who will be heading to Melbourne
AMSA Convention
• Exposure to 500+ medical students
across Australia attending

The Annual CAMS
Magazine
Half way through the year, an online
and physical annual magazine, known
as the ‘410 Annual’ will be circulated
throughout the medical school
reflecting on the previous year. It will
capture all of the events from charity
fundraisers, Mental Health Brunches
to our Gala Ball and everything in
between. The magazine will be
distributed to the new students as well
as current and will also be on display in
the common room and medical school
for visitors to have a look at. The
magazine is something we hope will
become a tradition and is a perfect
opportunity to advertise your business
and highlight your support of CAMS.
Click here to see our 410 Annual from
2019.
Advertising in the
Curtin Medical School
Common Room
As the newest building on campus, the
Curtin Medical School has become a
popular place to all students alike. For
those of you who have visited us there,
you will know how busy the building is
with a range of large open floor-to-
ceiling rotating pin boards located
centrally in the open study area. This is
a perfect spot for advertising material.
The CAMS common room also serves
as an ideal spot as it is only accessed by
medical students, therefore it is busy
throughout the week, and a great spot
to leave flyers and to have posters
pinned up on the walls.
We also have the opportunity for
sponsors to attach material/flyers to
the monthly secretary emails that are
distributed to all our members.
410 Annual:
• Double page advert - $200
• Full page advert - $150
• Half page advert - $100
Social Media Posts:
• Facebook post on CAMS page
(reach of 300+) - $50
• Distribution of advertising material
in Curtin Medical School building
(pin boards and common room) -
$100
• Attached sponsorship material in
monthly secretary newsletter
circulated to all medical students (3
months) - $100

Since founding in 2017, CAMS has

going to be such a large part of our
professional lives, and unfortunately
our personal lives, we as a society try
and raise funds for Cancer Council over
the 24-hour period that it runs for. We
would love for any engagement
whether it is to sponsor us per lap or to
have your banners pitched up outside
our campsite, all funds raised from this
aspect of our sponsorship will go
directly to Cancer Council.
Cost: $100, Inclusions:
• Exposure to 30 – 40 medical
students from Yrs 1 – 3
• Promotional material (banners etc)
erected next to the Curtin Medical
School banner located next to the
CAMS tent on the track
• Opportunity to come down/join in

captured in any photos taken on the

CSSA (Surgsoc)
Curtin’s Surgical Students Association
(CSSA) is an organisation formed in
2019 out of Curtin’s new medical
school. The CSSA is dedicated to
immersing medical students in the
field of surgery by providing
opportunities in surgical education,
networking and exposure.
While we are a Curtin-based
organisation, we are always aiming to
expand our horizons to enthusiastic
surgically oriented medical students
Australia-wide. CSSA’s ultimate goal is
to act as a prospective medical
student’s gateway to the world of
surgery by empowering them with the
necessary knowledge and skill sets.
This will be achieved by acting as a
focal point where like-minded students
can unite and move towards their
desired path in surgery.
If you are interested in getting
involved, contact CSSA through their
Facebook page Curtin Surgical
Students’ Association.
