Objetivo de aprendizaje:

Practice present perfect with for and since, and also use it with questions How long…?

Practice new vocabulary about describing people.

Instrucciones:

Read the instructions below each activity. You can answer in this same word document or

open a new word file. Once you have finished, send it to my email address.

Activity 1Check the following questions and ask them to a friend in English. You can use WhatsApp

or call your friend by phone. Take notes and then you have to record yourself and say the

answers about your partner’s friend. Please include extra information (use your cellphone).

If you cannot use a cell phone or can’t contact any of your friends, you can invent your own

answers.

Example:Sergio met his friend in elementary school, they see each other on the weekends, but the

other days they communicate by text messages and emails…

Activity 2Check the vocabulary about describing people that is shown below. Complete your

glossary with the words in bold. Remember, you have to write down definitions, so use a

dictionary or check online, please also write examples and pictures (this time do it in a

Word file and paste pictures or draw them and take a picture of your drawings and paste

them into the document)

Then complete the activity 9 by matching the people with the description. Copy the

sentences and your answers in the document.

Activity 3In exercise 10, put the vocabulary into categories. Then, answer exercises 11 and 12. This

also has to be in your Word document.

Activity 4Grammar practice with present perfect using FOR and SINCE and questions with How

long.

We use FOR with the present perfect to talk about a period of time before now.

Examples:

I have worked in Juana de Asbaje as a teacher for year and a half

She has known her best friend for many years.

We use SINCE with the present perfect to mention a specific point in time.

I have worked in Juana de Asbaje as a teacher since August 2008

She has known her best friend since kindergarten.

We use How long to ask question about the duration of an action or situation that has been happening until now. We usually use For and Since to answer these questions.

How long have you studied in Juana de Asbaje? Since kindergarten.

How long has she been your best friend? For many years.

Put the following time expressions with FOR or SINCE. Write them in the Word format.

Complete exercise 2 with the present perfect, using FOR and SINCE and the correct form

of the past participle of the verbs in the box. Write down the sentences in the Word format.

Activity 5Write questions with How long using the information below. Then, ask these questions to a

friend (the same friend if you want) and record yourself saying the answers using present

perfect with FOR and SINCE. (Once again if you cannot contact any of your friends, you

can create your own answers)

Example: My friend has lived in his home for 5 years, he has studied English since…
