The Príomhoide’s Perspective
Confirmation and Communion 2012
We are coming to the end
of an eventful and hugely
successful year in Scoil Eoin!
We have achieved great
sporting success this last
term as hurling champions
of Sciath na Scol, as All Ire-
land table tennis champions,
and as overall winners of
our section in Cork City
Sports. We were awarded
the Gradam Gaisce by the
GAA and are the only
school in the city to have
achieved their 5th Green
Flag. We are proud of our
boys and sincerely grateful
to our teachers who have
worked tirelessly towards
achieving this success.
This term we say slán to Mr.
Dónal Conway as Principal
and to Ms. Geraldine Foley
as Speech and Drama
teacher. Gach rath agus ádh
oraibh araon. We also say
slán to our fine boys in Rang
a 6. They have been a unit
over the past eight years
and have contributed in
many ways to life in Scoil
Eoin. Guímíd gach rath
oraibh a bhuachaillí in bhúr
saoil. Finally, I wish to thank
our hardworking parents’
committee, who fund many
of our school activities.

The Parents and Friends of Scoil Eoin
began this school year with a new
committee, full of bright new ideas to
better our school. Throughout the
years the efforts of the P.F.A. have
turned Scoil Eoin into a modern pri-
mary school with state of the art
facilities. This year’s Night at the
Dogs proved a great hit!

Parents Please Remember Scoil Eoin re-opens on Monday, September 3rd 2012.
Please ensure that your child returns with all of his books covered and labelled and that all
of his belongings and uniform are also clearly labelled.
Each boy is expected to have his own wash bag, containing a face-cloth (washed and changed weekly) and tissues.
Keep in mind that Scoil Eoin is a health-promoting school when making decisions for your child’s lunchbox.
A Fond Farewell
At the end of February Scoil Eoin bid a fond farewell to Mr. Conway. He taught in the school for 37 and a
half years and was principal for the last seven years. His retirement was celebrated with a lovely mass. The
boys sang beautifully and were a real credit to their teachers and parents. Thank you most sincerely to the
many parents who contributed towards his gift of a Waterford Crystal Lamp and a Kindle, which were pre-
sented on the day. Mr. Conway was very touched by both the mass and the gifts
and also wished to express his thanks.
Miss Geraldine Foley also said goodbye to Scoil Eoin this year. After nineteen wonderful years here she
was very sad to leave, but excited to pursue the next chapter of her life. She contributed tremendously
to Scoil Eoin and will be greatly missed by both the staff and the boys.
Parents and Friends of Scoil Eoin
The ongoing fundraising by the P.F.A. this
year has benefited classes with a variety of
activities including tennis, cricket and gym-
nastics. They kindly subsidised
the buses that travelled to the
Sciath na Scol final, so that all
children from 1st to 6th witnessed another
fantastic Scoil Eoin victory. “On behalf of the
P.F.A. we would like to say a big thank to
the parents for all of your support
throughout the year. Remember that
all funds raised go directly back your
children and the school”, Elaine
Crowley, chairperson.
