We have looked at different types of adversing and the language used to persuade the reader. We are now starng to look at the structure and grammacal features of a persuasive text. In English we are reading “Tom Tom” by Rosemary Sullivan. During these sessions we have explored how the author uses adjecves to make the sentences more interesng. Year 2 have idenfied nouns, proper nouns and pronouns used in the story. We have idenfied different uses for a comma and wrien sentences using a comma. We are currently working on how to write different types of sentences. In mathemacs Year 2 are focusing on the invesgaon “Gone Fishing”. During this me students will work on whole numbers, numbers beyond 100, addion facts, subtracon facts, mental strategies for addion and subtracon, division, measurement, months and seasons. Tammy Parker - Class Teacher Cross Country Thank you to all the people who have offered to drive to Cassilis. We have so many drivers that some parents will only be transporng their own children. (This will make a great cheer squad for Sandy Hollow) All children will need to be at school by 8.30 with their hats on. Please ensure your child has plenty of water to drink. Please bring recess and lunch if you have not previously ordered. The bus will be running 20 minutes early. Additions & Attachments Canteen roster for term 2. Some receipts. Sandy Hollow Students Help Save the Regent Honeyeater. The Regent Honeyeater is a bird found in our local area that is about to become exnct. It eats the nectar from iron bark trees. On 24th March Sandy Hollow students went to Merriwa Central School to parcipate in a Taronga Zoo visit. During the visit we talked to Dan and Jackie. Jackie talked about habitat and how it can be destroyed. Dan discussed the locaon of the project. He told us about the new fence they put in and how they turned up the soil for planng the trees. Tomorrow, 31st March, Years 5 & 6 from Sandy Hollow and Merriwa Central are going to Worondi Road to create a habitat for the Regent Honeyeater. This is a very important project because there are less than 500 leſt in Australia. The students are very excited to parcipate in this important conservaon project. Wrien by Year 5.
