Called to Final Vows

On Saturday, June 30th at St. Joseph Church in Seattle Washington our Fr. Joseph with Eric Watson, S.J. made their profession of final vows in the Society of Jesus with the V. Rev. Scott Santarosa, S.J., Provincial of Jesuits West receiving their vows on behalf of the Father General. While First Vows, made at the end of novitiate, are a prayer to God, asking for grace to enter the Society, Final Vows are made to the Society, a commitment of one's whole self to service and mission in community, lived in Poverty, Chastity, and Obedience, with a special vow of obedience to the Pope for mission. Here a man, who has already lived years in service, at last is received fully, by God's grace, into the Company of Jesus. May God continue to bless Fr. Joseph and the Society of Jesus abundantly.

Prayer Walk in Celebration of the Solemnity of St. Ignatius of Loyola

Saturday, July 28, 20188:30am to 12:00pm

Saint Ignatius Loyola, who referred to himself as “The Pilgrim,” often prayed on his feet, and encouraged his companions to do the same. He trekked his Basque home-land, and far beyond, with a desire to see it as God saw it. So it is fitting that, as a Jesuit parish, one of the ways we will celebrate the Solemnity of Saint Ignatius of Loyola is by stepping beyond the walls of our church buildings and put feet to our prayers.

We will be taking our prayers to the places in our community where we desire to see God’s living presence manifested and our prayer petitions answered. For example, we will stand outside the Poverello Center and St. Patrick Hospital, praying quietly for blessings of God’s love, peace and healing for all those they serve.

No RSVPs... just lace up your sneakers and join us! To learn more & larger map go to sfxmissoula.org under the heading of Faith Formation, Spirituality Ministry side heading Calendar

The Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life (SEEL) is a retreat sponsored by St. Francis Xavier Church. It’s meant for busy people like you. Here’s what one retreatant said about his experience:

“About two years ago I spoke with a former SEEL retreatant. Her enthusiasm was infectious. It took me a couple of years to finally commit. The SEEL retreat deepened or matured my faith in such a way that connects me with God in my everyday life. The retreat helped me to realize that Jesus was a real person. He was fully human in every way. Believe it or not, that thought never actually occurred to me before. I always imagined him simply as God in human clothing. But now I see him as a distinct member of the Trinity, and that has made all the difference in how I understand my faith.”

We will once again be collecting items for the Back to School Bash to help families who need just a bit of help getting their kids outfitted for school. Watch for a box for new socks and underwear (sized for children 4-12) and also to collect new or gently used books for children aged pre-K through high school. Kids get the chance to pick books that appeal to their reading level and subject interest so any appropriate books will do!
