My Dear Parishioners,
This coming Monday, March 5 at 11:59pm marks the deadline for filing your personal response to the Disciple Maker Index. This is the survey I had mentioned about a month ago in my State of the Parish Address, in which I encouraged all of you to participate. St. Bede the Venerable Parish was chosen by the Catholic Leadership
Institute (C.L.I.) a nationally known apostolate that fosters and promotes strong, vibrant parishes to participate in this evalua-tion process. . As of this printing, over 225 parishioners have participated online, not counting those who did so by hard copy. There are many things I find very helpful about this particu-lar survey. First of all, we did not have to compose it ourselves. It was done by people who devote themselves fully to the development of Catholic parishes. Secondly, the evaluations themselves are not read by either me or my staff. Instead, the raw results go to C.L.I., which helps to insure our parishioners’ anonymity and promotes honesty. The third and most important benefit is that the interpretation of the results and feedback will be guided by professionals from C.L.I. On May 14, I, along with my fellow priests and eight or nine parishioners, will attend an all-day workshop conducted by C.L.I., so that we can interpret the responses of our parishion-ers, and begin to envision what are the next steps. The timing could not be better. Our previously written parish pastoral plan has basically been implemented. But with the formation of a new Parish Pastoral Council, some new fresh participants, and with the survey results in hand, we will be ready to envision the next steps to make our parish even more effective in responding to the pastoral needs of our parishioners. So if you have not completed the Disciple Maker Index Survey yet, please do so by Monday March 5. Consult page 3 of this week’s bulletin for further details. Thank you for your participation and honesty, and your concern for the building of God’s kingdom here in Northampton Township. Finally, speaking about Parish Pastoral Councils, please consider either someone you know or even yourself for nomination to this very important advisory board. I appreciate their voice, their advice and their insights. It is always encour-aging for me as a pastor, along with my parochial vicars, to know that, through their counsel, we have others dreaming, praying and discerning how we can be an even better “Family of God, here on earth.” May God Bless You,

Scripture Readings Fourth Sunday of Lent March 11, 2018 2 Chronicles 36: 14-16, 19-23 Psalm 137 Ephesians 2: 4-10 John 3: 14-21 Try not to let the readings be completely overshadowed by your familiarity with the passage from John 3:16. there is so much here for contemplation and prayer, gratitude and celebration. Indeed, go so loves the world that God has acted before in history through Cyrus of Persia, and even today through the Holy Spirit in our own lives. As we listen to these holy scriptures, in what ways do they remind us of how God acts in our own lives?

As Monsignor Marine explained in his State of the Parish Address, St. Bede's has been invited to participate in an important Survey. Completion should take approximately 10-15 minutes.
****This is an opportunitv for your voice and opinions to be heard****
Please help us by completing this Survey on-line at: www.disciplemakerindex.com OR if you wish, paper copies of the Survey are available now. The deadline for completion of the Survey in either format is March 5th at 11:59pm. Parishioners, including anyone who is a participating member of our Teen Youth Ministry, is eligible to complete the Survey. NOTE: Providing your email address on the Survey form is "OPTIONAL". The purpose of this Survey is to provide Monsignor Marine and our Parish Leadership with invaluable insight regarding our strengths and opportunities for improvement. All responses will be confidential and the parish will only receive information about the community as a whole. Once the information is com-piled it will be presented to Monsignor Marine and our Parish Leadership in a meeting with The Catholic Leadership Insti-tute sometime in late spring. Together they will interpret the results and develop an Action Plan which Monsignor Marine will then share with the parish. Members of our Evangelization Team will be stationed in the vestibule of the church after all WEEKEND Masses to provide a paper copy of the Survey, assistance with its completion or to answer any questions/concerns you may have. Paper copies of the Survey and assistance with its comple-tion are also available at the RECTORY during its normal busi-ness hours.
Questions/concerns feel free to contact: [email protected] or via phone: 215-860-0582

Principal’s CornerPrincipal’s Corner It is hard to believe that March has arrived and that our second trimester of the school year ends on Friday. We will begin our final trimester of the school year on Monday, 3/12. Our students have been working hard each and every day as they grow in their own knowledge, faith, and service. During the month of March, we practice the virtue of self-control. Each day we remind our students to think before they act, to control their temper, to make good choices, to follow through with plans and tasks, and to always be the best that they can be- even when no one is looking. We ask our Lord to lead us, guide us, and walk beside us, in order to shape us into what He wants us to be. As we honor Saint Katharine Drexel during this holy season of Lent, we remember her words: “I must follow Him closely, so that I shall be near Him, my Good Shepherd, Who will help me to carry it, for He still bears His Cross in each one of His Children.” Ms. Laura Clark Principal, SKD School 215-357-5720 / www.skdschool.org
