Designing spells innovation passion and imagination I love fashion designing and I love my country India I am a small town fashion designer with big passion to keep my countrys arts and traditions alive by designing my creations with a traditional Indian touch The main focus of my designs is based on world famous Indian Traditional art ldquoThe Madhubani Paintingrdquo I have participated in multiple fashion shows at state level as well as national level presenting Indian tradition in Fashion I am a Botany graduate I did a course in fashion designing from Centre for Education Ranchi and my masters from Ravindra Vishva Vidyapeeth New Delhi I honed my creative skills to make a career in designing instead of being a botanist In 2003 I joined Marwari College Ranchi as lecturer in Fashion Designing Dept after which I dedicated myself to providing young fashion designers the skills and knowledge that would make them one of Indias finest I love designing designers Currently I am the Head Of Department Fashion designing dept Marwari college Ranchi University Jharkhand I completed my PhD on the research topic Role of Indian Traditional arts in latest fashion trends at national and International level My research mainly focuses on Madhubani the traditional art of Bihar and Zardozi the art of Lucknow

Ms Aruna Tirkey is an MBA in Rural Development Professional from Xavier Institute of Social Service

(XISS) Ranchi She has more than 15 years of professional career spanned around working on issues

related to community health women empowerment natural resource management livelihood

development and forest rights under the Forest Rights Act (FRA) 2006 She has extensive experience in

working with non-profit organizations government agencies bilateral projects and international

organizations Few key professional engagements include Swa-Shakti Project State level Master Trainer

under the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) under National Rural Livelihood

Mission and research on forest-based livelihood and tribal food nutrition Most recently she was the

State level Consultant for the UNDP and led the State level FRA cell Apart from being a committed

Rural Development professional she is a connoisseur of tribal food and cuisine She stands out for her

remarkable initiative on tribal food revival in Jharkhand which she visualizes as a means to strengthen

tribal identity and culture that is fast disintegrating Her food revival mission is named as Ajam Emba

(in Kudukh language spoken by Oraon tribe meaning lsquogreat tastersquo) She runs her initiative in the mode

of for-profit social enterprise and have founded a private limited company with the same name

Belonging to Oraon community she is possibly one of the first women tribal entrepreneurs in the region

As a part of her food revival initiative she has established a first of its kind tribal cuisine restaurant and

training centre based at Ranchi Jharkhand Through her venture she is working to directly benefit more

than 100 tribal women and around 5000 farmers and forest produce collectors and have so far exposed

local food of Jharkhand to around 35000 people including at local national and international levelShe

has presented tribal food of Jharkhand in prestigious national events like International Film Festival at

Goa (2018) International Bamboo Festival at Dumka Jharkhand (2019) and panel speaker at the

international Terra Madre event organized at Sapporo Japan (2019) She is founder of the Jharkhand

Slow Food community as a part of International Slow Food Association that works on promoting

a personal level I am creative organized and detail-oriented by nature I strive for a healthy balance

of time on both personal and professional level So in short I am an Architect a traveler a foodie a

chef and a home maker I was born and bought up in Bahraich a small district in Uttar Pradesh and

got married in Ranchi Jharkhand I was bought up within a very conservative and protective

atmosphere Today I feel proud to have a successful professional and personal life without

compromising on the values and principles that have been inculcated in me while I was growing up

Ms Aruna Tirkey is an MBA in Rural Development Professional from Xavier Institute of Social Service

(XISS) Ranchi She has more than 15 years of professional career spanned around working on issues

related to community health women empowerment natural resource management livelihood

development and forest rights under the Forest Rights Act (FRA) 2006 She has extensive experience in

working with non-profit organizations government agencies bilateral projects and international

organizations Few key professional engagements include Swa-Shakti Project State level Master Trainer

under the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) under National Rural Livelihood

Mission and research on forest-based livelihood and tribal food nutrition Most recently she was the

State level Consultant for the UNDP and led the State level FRA cell Apart from being a committed

Rural Development professional she is a connoisseur of tribal food and cuisine She stands out for her

remarkable initiative on tribal food revival in Jharkhand which she visualizes as a means to strengthen

tribal identity and culture that is fast disintegrating Her food revival mission is named as Ajam Emba

(in Kudukh language spoken by Oraon tribe meaning lsquogreat tastersquo) She runs her initiative in the mode

of for-profit social enterprise and have founded a private limited company with the same name

Belonging to Oraon community she is possibly one of the first women tribal entrepreneurs in the region

As a part of her food revival initiative she has established a first of its kind tribal cuisine restaurant and

training centre based at Ranchi Jharkhand Through her venture she is working to directly benefit more

than 100 tribal women and around 5000 farmers and forest produce collectors and have so far exposed

local food of Jharkhand to around 35000 people including at local national and international levelShe

has presented tribal food of Jharkhand in prestigious national events like International Film Festival at

Goa (2018) International Bamboo Festival at Dumka Jharkhand (2019) and panel speaker at the

international Terra Madre event organized at Sapporo Japan (2019) She is founder of the Jharkhand

Slow Food community as a part of International Slow Food Association that works on promoting
