OBrume was born on July 21, 1973. He passed away

unexpectedly on December 11, 2002, aged 29 Years. He was a big thinker with a keen entrepreneurial spirit. He firmly believed that the future of Nigeria lies in its youth, and was concerned that the present generation of business and political leaders were not doing enough to nurture and support the country's youth.

The Ovie Brume Foundation was established in 2003 by his family to commemorate the memory of Ovie by supporting his commitment to Nigeria's development. At the core of the foundation is its Youth Centre, which provides young people with a wide range of recreational, social and educational opportunities, through which they are encouraged to develop positive attitudes; discover their own gifts and talents; recognize opportunities that are available to them, to reach higher levels of achievements in all their endeavours.

Our objective is to create a positive and safe environment where youths have access to a wide range of s t ruc tured charac ter bui ld ing activities, meet appropriate role models, and obtain support and counseling at no cost to them.

Dear Friends,

019 began on a great note for us at the Ovie Brume 2Foundation as we reviewed our programs and processes as well as strategized for the year. So far,

we have achieved alot in this half year with support from our sponsors, donors and friends. We established new partnerships with both for-profit and non-profit organizations and we have implemented various Livelihood, Health and Education programs. See highlights below.

The commemoration of the 2019 World Cancer Day at Tarkwa Bay Island in partnership with Lagoon Hospitals, Hygeia HMO, George Kerry Life Foundation and Xcene Research recorded a huge success with over 500 community members benefitting from Breast Cancer examinations, Cervical Cancer testing and vital signs screening.

Two members of Ovie Brume Foundation's Youth Centre Mohammed Mohammed and Lucas David, emerged 1st & 2nd positions at the World Book Day competition organised by Famfa Oil Limited in collaboration with United for Education Foundation (U4E) and First City Monument Bank. Both winners are members of the Foundation's "Book Club" at the Education Unit and beneficiaries of the Foundation's Project “No Excuses” scholarship scheme.

In commemoration of the 2019 International Women's Day, IHS Nigeria Ltd through its “Charity Fund” donated funds for three members of the Ovie Brume Foundation Youth Centre under the Project “No Excuses” scholarship scheme. The Barack Obama American Corner in partnership with the Jewels Network organised a Master class for budding Fashion Designers with Mr. Mai Atafo who inspired participants through his personal story and achievement in the Industry.

Also, the Foundation partnered with TalentPlus Resources International and the Barack Obama American Corner to organise an “Election Focused Dialogue” to enlighten electorates on exercising their voting rights. In addition, the half year was rounded up with a Financial Literacy training for members of the Foundation's Youth Centre in partnership with Sage Software Nigeria.

These and more are achievements recorded in the first half of 2019. We are proud of the impact we are making and implore you to partner with us in our efforts to reshape and empower Nigeria's future leaders.

OResources International in partnership with the Barack Obama American

Corner and the Ovie Brume Foundation organised an “Election Focused Dialogue”, which broght together professionals, aspirants and the public to discuss on “The Role of Youth in Achieving a Successful Election in Nigeria”.

Mrs. Aderonke Kimernenihia-Eseks, Executive Director of TalentPlus facilitated discussions on Youth, Democracy and Elections. The highlight of the program was the session by Dr. Christopher Kolade (CON), former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom who enlightened participants on the power of the electorates and the need for young people to be actively involved in choosing credible leaders for the future of our nation. Dr. Kolade

also emphasized the critical role of youth being the majority population in determining election outcomes, hence the need to utilise their voting power to elect exceptional representatives to leadership.

Child Online Risk Safety

n a bid to ensure young people's safety and Ieffective use of the internet, the Ovie Brume Foundation hosted the “Child

Online Risk Safety” program in partnership with the Barack Obama American Corner and Child Online Safety Nigeria on 30th January 2019.

The program was well attended by students, teachers and professionals in the education, development and technology space. A m b a s s a d o r a n d P e r m a n e n t Representative to the United Nations, underscored that the proclamation of 24th January as the International Day of Education is an important step in order to promote education as a critical aspect of S u s t a i n a b l e D e v e l o p m e n t . I n commemorating the International Day of Education, Ovie Brume Foundation enlightened the public about this important day as well as highlighted achievements recorded in its thematic focus of Education through projects implemented across Nigeria in 2018.

2019 World Cancer Day

n commemoration of the 2019 World Cancer Day Iand demonstration of its unwavering commitment to promoting health in Nigeria, Ovie Brume

Foundation held an awareness and sensitization exercise on Cancer prevention and treatment with residents of Tarkwa Bay Island, Lagos on Thursday 7th February 2019. The event had in attendance staff from George Kerry Life Foundation, Xcene Research, Lagoon Hospital, Hygiea HMO, Ovie Brume Foundation, Volunteers and Tarkwa Bay and neighbouring communities.

Dr. Oluwagbemiga Durojaiye, a Family Physician Consultant, Lagoon Hospitals, facilitated an educative session on Cancer myths, prevention and treatment while Joseph Onyeanu and Ayodele Elizabeth of Xcene Research and George Kerry Life Foundation also spoke on their organization's roles in improving the health and well-being of people. Over 300 community members of Tarkwa Bay Island and neighboring communities benefited from the program; 100 women were screened for Breast and Cervical Cancer while about 250 were screened for blood sugar, Body Mass Index (BMI) and blood pressure. The outreach also provided participants one-on-one sessions with Doctors who tested and recommended treatment.

The Chief (Baale) of Tarkwa Bay Island, admitted that the initiative was the first of its kind in the community and this has not only improved the knowledge of community members on health and well-being but also provided them an avenue to reassess their health behaviours and allow them make necessary adjustments. He also lauded the health initiative for increasing the number of community members visiting the Tarkwa Bay Primary Healthcare Centre for consultations and treatment.

Ovie Brume Foundation wishes to thank Access Bank Plc, Coronation Merchant Bank, Cadbury Plc, Eti-Osa Local Government, George Kerry Life Foundation, Lagoon Hospital , Xcene Research for their immense support towards the successful commemoration of the 2019 World Cancer Day.

Ovie Brume Foundation will continue to strategically contribute to a better world for all and to the attainment of #SDG 3: “Ensure Healthy Lives and Promote Well-being for all Ages.” Overall, the program was a success as all participants were educated on Cancer, its risks factors and Prevention.

n line with the Central Bank's initiative to drive Ifinancial inclusion across all levels of society, Ovie Brume Foundation in partnership with

Sage Software Nigeria organized a one-day training on Financial literacy for secondary school students in Lagos state on Friday 15th March 2019.

The event had in attendance 126 students across 8 schools - Victoria Island Junior and Senior Secondary Schools, Kuramo Junior and Senior Secondary School, Government Junior and Senior secondary school and Falomo senior school. The Financial Literacy training session focused on topics such as “Needs and Want", "Budget and Saving”, etc. Facilitators explained the concepts and gave insight into how young people can make rational decisions in prioritising and differentiating between needs and wants in order to be able to set financial goals. Ultimately, the student found the

sessions educative and participatory, they asked salient questions, shared opinions and learnt practical life experiences shared by facilitators.

Financial Literacy can help in making good financial decisions thereby reducing the risk of indebtedness. Therefore, it is important for students to have good knowledge of Financial Literacy that will promote the right financial habits and skills to enable them make the right decisions that will enhance their financial well-being.

Strategic partnerships are very important in designing, implementing and evaluation of sustainable development projects. Ovie Brume Foundation wishes to thank Sage Foundation for partnering to host the Financial Literacy training.

Cand development in both business and career. In partnership with Ovie Brume Foundation and the

Barack Obama American Corner, Jewels Network organised a Master class for budding Fashion Designers with one of African's Top Fashion Designer.

On 5th April 2019, Ovie Brume Foundation hosted Mr. Mai Atafo to a session with Fashion Designers and other enthusiasts on Business Management of Fashion Design. Mai shared his journey so far, dating back from elementary school to the Fashion industry, after having a successful career as a Brand Manager of a Leading FMCG. The participants who were eager to learn from his wealth of experience asked questions and Mai delved into various parts of his business ranging from staffing to branding, customer acquisition, retention and public relations. The session was practical, insightful and participants were inspired to apply the knowledge gained to their respective businesses.

World Malaria Day

orld Malaria Day (#WMD) is commemorated Wannually on 25th April to recognize global efforts to prevent and control Malaria. According to the

latest World Malaria Report released in November 2018, there were 219 million cases of malaria in 2017, up from 217 million cases in 2016 and an estimated 435,000 deaths in 2017.

In this vein, Ovie Brume Foundation in collaboration with Xcene Research distributed mosquito nets to mothers and pregnant women living in underserved communities in Lagos State. Mrs. Patience Timi and Mr. Boss Thomas, benef ic iar ies o f the program, apprecia ted and acknowledged the contributions of Ovie Brume Foundation and other partners to improving the health of Tarkwa Bay Island residents. According to them, malaria has been a major health challenge in the community due to its terrains; the distribution of mosquitoes nets to pregnant and nursing mothers will therefore reduce malaria incidence and morbidity in the community.

The Niger Delta Initiative (NDI) Unit also commemorated the 2019 World Malaria Day by organizing a “Health Talk” in partnership with Lily Hospital, Ehiedu Foundation, Ashaka Hospital and Ubogo Health Centre at the Ubogo Community Town Hall. Community members were sensitized on the causes, prevention methods and treatment of malaria; they also received free malaria test, mosquito nets and insecticides.

n commemoration of the International Womens Day I2019, IHS Nigeria Ltd through its “Charity Fund” supported three members of the Ovie Brume

Foundation Youth Centre under the Project “No Excuses” scholarship scheme. The Fund will support beneficiaries' access to all components of the scholarship scheme: Healthcare, Nutrition, Clothing, and Education. The Foundation engaged parents of the new beneficiaries to familiarise them with expectations, benefits and their role in ensuring their children make the best of the scholarship opportunity.

Project “No Excuses” (PNE) Scholarship Scheme is a scholarship scheme with the overall goal of mitigating the underlying factors that hinder outstanding public primary and secondary school children from having educational opportunities. Ovie Brume Foundation reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that all children of school age are in school. We call on all stakeholders to partner with us in achieving the Sustainable Development Goal 4: Education is the greatest asset to bequeath to the next generation.

Ovie Brume Foundation Taekwondo Competition

aekwondo is a scientific and the most Tsystematic Korean traditional martial arts, which teaches more than physical fighting

skills. It is a discipline that shows ways of enhancing the spirit and life by training the mind and body and it is an officially recognized game in the Olympics.

On 8th June 2019, the Ovie Brume Foundation organized the 5th edition of the Ovie Brume Foundation U-14 Taekwondo competition, which held at the Basket Ball Court of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. 109 contestants aged 8 to 17 from 12 clubs and public / private schools, participated in the competition and a total of 27 gold, 27 silver and 55 bronze medals were won in different categories.

Oand activities which ignites ideas and motivates children to improve their

educational and personal development. In lieu of this, the Foundation celebrated the 2019 Children's Day with partner public schools in Lagos State, on 25th May 2019 at the Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The Children's Day celebration kicked off on 7th May with an Essay Writing competition among 28 schools in Eti-Osa Local Government (10 Primary, 9 Junior Secondary and 9 Senior Secondary Schools) with two representatives from each school competing for the grand prize. The essay topic for the primary school pupils was “Who is your Hero and Why”, while the essay topics for the Junior and Senior Secondary School students were, “Technology: A distraction or a Bonus” and “Free Education for All? Pros, Cons, and Alternatives” respectively.

The 2019 Children's Day celebration had in attendance about 800 children from 32 public primary and secondary schools and 115 adults comprising of teachers, school heads and dignitaries from the Lagos State Ministry of Education, Access Bank Plc, Cadbury Plc, Lagos State Parks and Garden Agency and Lagoon Hospital.

Key highlights of the event includes speeches, spelling bee, brainteasers, games, talent hunts, dance and presentation of gifts to winners in different categories. Omorin Oladejo, Product Manager, Access Bank facilitated the Financial Literacy session and educated participants on financial attitudes and skills necessary to make informed financial choices as well as charged students to inculcate saving habits, set financial goals and make right decisions. Also, Mrs. Sarat Tejumola Giwa (SUBEB, Board Member) representing Dr. Ganiyu Sopeyin, Chairman, Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board presented gifts to the winners of the Essay Writing competition.

The 2019 Children's Day celebration was a success as it provided an avenue for youth to holistically strive for excellence particularly in their education. The Ovie Brume Foundation therefore wishes to thank the following organisations ( Access Bank, Cadbury Plc, Kachifo Limited, Lafarge Africa Plc, Oxbridge Academy, Temi's Jump, Vitafoam Plc, Viju Industries Limited, 4Tees Rentals and Ballons) for their roles and support in ensuring that the 2019 Children's Day event was a success.

The “Book on Wheels” is a copyright project of the Ovie Brume Foundation, which seeks to improve literacy among primary school pupils. It is a community integrated

literacy enhancement initiative which simply put is 'reading wherever you are'. In May 2019, the Ovie Brume Foundation partnered with Ouida Books to organise a “Book Tour” in targeted primary schools across Eti-Osa LGA. The Book tour held in 4 public primary schools and featured children's book author, Ayo Oyeku, who read two of his books, “Mafoya” and “The Finish Line” with the pupils. The first phase of the tour held on 16th & 17th May at Okun Ajah Primary School and Islamiyat Jamatul Primary School respectively while the second phase of the tour held on 13th & 14th June at Jinadu Anglican Primary School and Dodan Barracks Primary School respectively.

Overall, the Book tour was a success as it excited, motivated and educated pupils on the importance of reading while also providing them an opportunity to read, chat and ask questions. Through the “Book on Wheels” project, the Ovie Brume Foundation is contributing to improving the reading culture in schools as well as contributing to rebuilding libraries across Nigeria. The Foundation therefore donated books to the libraries of Jinadu Anglican Primary School and Dodan Barracks Primary School, in line with the objectives of the “Book on Wheels” project.

Oworld in commemorating International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. On

25th June 2019, the Foundation in partnership with Save D Future Initiative organized a sensitization and awareness program for secondary school students in Victoria Island, Lagos, hosted at Akande Dahunsi Memorial School.

The program educated about 150 students from 4 government schools. The program which was organized to commemorate the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, educated about 150 students from 4 government schools. Guests speakers, Julius Ilori (Save D Future Initiative), Mosope Ogunleye (Rivers Side Support Group), Precious Ajunwa (Galaxy 4 Peace), Toyin Benson (Well Signs Initiative) spoke on topics such as, Choices, Goal Setting, Peer Pressure and Effects of Drug Abuse.

The students also broke into groups for the mentoring sessions facilitated by guest speakers. The discussions focused on enlightening the students about career choices. The Ovie Brume Foundation recommits to positively reshaping youth through its educative programs and activities. #Saynotodrugs
