Visit to Manabí

Six months ago we made the trip to the province of Manabí province is one of the most amazing places of Ecuador, has many interesting places to visit from the beaches to their old homes.

The first place we visited was the community of Agua Blanca where we could go for a dry forest where we saw various kinds of animals and some extraordinary landscapes, plus we could dip into the waters of the beach of the Friars, later visited a museum remains sites and also visited a medical pool where we swam with the toads.

The next day we took a boat to Isla de la Plata and look over whales that had migrated to the coasts of Ecuador to reproduce. Once on the island from the beach, the guides took us on a tour that lasted over an hour but it was very interesting because we observed several types of birds that only exist on that site and in the Galapagos Islands.

On the third day of tour we visited the Virgin of Olon and beaches of Montañita where we live a wonderful experience, as this site there are many international tourists surfing and construction of this site are striking for its scenery and for its high prices.

Finally visited Montecristi and the city of Portoviejo, Montecristi is a very interesting place for its history and crafts they make. Portviejo is a welcoming city with big buildings and many places to visit. Manabí is a place worth visiting.

The Train Trip

In April we made a train trip with my classmates and teachers, the journey began in the city of Ibarra to Salinas parish, the tour lasted about an hour and a half.

During the trip we see unique landscapes, including saw the Maqui River Canyon and also crossed by bridges at high altitudes, and to make the journey more interesting guide told us the story that has this way.

Later we find several people including Urcuquí soon be built where the city of knowledge on this site saw several ranches and farms used to grow sugar cane and other products.

At the end of the trip, we arrived at Salinas where a group of Ecuadorians was waiting for us to show us their dances also made us partakers of them and we danced with them, this activity was fun, after this had to try a juice ovo typical of the area and visited the house of handicrafts from the area where we see crafts made by the inhabitants of this site.

Salinas is known for the large amount of salt produced above that is why we have created a site museum, where it is represented throughout the process for obtaining salt, is a short but very interesting journey.

This place has slowly been having an interesting development in terms of tourism due to the operation of the train and hope that new projects are proposed to be other activities related to this activity.

Advantages and disadvantages of scholarships

The student welfare department of UPEC was concerned to give recognition or economic incentives for outstanding students, whether in sports, cultural and academic, complying with the provisions of the Higher Education Law which rules welfare activities for students, being the prerequisite for the accreditation of the university.

I think that scholarships are an important contribution and incentive for students, also help to have their own resources so that students will stand up in the economic field and help significantly to the economy of their homes.

Another advantage there is that it provides financial assistance for students of low economic resources allowing them to be overcome and to achieve the objectives that have been raised. In addition to providing other types of scholarships as the group those benefits from 50% of transport costs in carrying out technical visits.

The grants are an incentive that allows students interested in sports; cultural and academic grant him a profit by performing them.

The most notable disadvantage is that scholarships are selective; it only cares about a particular group apart from students with average grades, causing them to look somewhat unmotivated.

That's why the grants are in some ways an incentive for high average students and those who belong to special groups, like media encourages students to overcome and competition.

My ideal trip

My dream since childhood has been able to know Egypt, its culture, traditions, monuments

and other interesting aspects of this site, also yearning to end my career to make this trip. I'd

go with a special person to me, someone who shares my same dreams, interests and

curiosities, besides the transfer of the aircraft would have to do in putting together another

experience to my life and it would be the first time you fly in a ship of this kind.

While in Egypt I would like to know the mysteries of the pyramids and enclosing these

enigmatic constructions, also walk the city I would like to know the lifestyle of the inhabitants,

their language and customs; know the Sphinx in its great size, go through the barren desert

riding a camel, see the sand dunes, walking along the banks of the Nile, meeting so many

wonderful things about this place that I surely know that I will be amazed from the start.

Page 12: Portafolio ingles

From previous times my curiosity about the Egyptian culture has increased since I am fond of

history and particularly caught my attention this culture, if I could get to get another title in my

professional life would be to devote Egyptologist to decipher all the mysteries. My ideal trip

would go to the Land of the Pharaohs.

My future

I think our future will be constantly changing due to new technology developments and future

plans that we have.

also I am going to travel around the world visiting the most interesting places on the planet.

After working hard I am sure that I will buy a late model car and Also I going to buy a house to

my taste.

After thinking about all the material property that i am able to have, now I think of the family, I

want to have children.

My dream is to have two babies. I will have a boy and he is going to call Pablo; I will have a girl,

she is going to call Sofia. One family have not forced into marriage, so I'm not going to get

married.

Page 14: Portafolio ingles

Is that the future is changing and may present opportunities really important that we could

change his mind of the plans we have is why we must build the future on the basis of this and

know how to accept the challenges that we show on the road .

If I don’t comply with my homework, I will lose the semester.

If dawn raining, tomorrow I will not go to school.

If I get a job, I could spend the money buying clothes.

If I ended the task quickly, I can’t go out to eat.

If I do not pay the money until tomorrow, I will not go to camp.

Unless I keep the books, I may go to class.

If I study the content of the book, I pass the test.

If I had no computer, I could not do my homework.

If I had a good teacher, I wouldn’t learn English.

If I could be a teacher, I would not leave them much homework to students.

Team work in the university

Team work has been promoted within the university as an activity linked to the ancient customs of the people where our ancestors worked for a common good.

Within the university, things are not as different as teachers, students and authorities work regardless of status or position they occupy. An advantage of this is that any work done it done quickly, and allows socializing with others and recover in a meaningful way the customs that have been eroded over the years.

Another of the advantages that exist when working together is to promote fellowship among the group, so it can be improved relationships between teachers and students, or vice versa. With teamwork within the university also allows us to understand the different views of the individuals who make up this community.

But team work is a strength we have today, so we have seen some disadvantages such as lack of interest and commitment of some people, which causes other problems such as aggression between peers, division of the group and in some cases people generate a negative attitude which does not allow developing the activities of a normal form.

I think another problem is that some teachers do not give it the importance it deserves this kind of work for which there is no adequate motivation for students.

I hope that future activity can be recovered completely in order to have better relations among all those who make up this community.

Use of Passive

Passive voice is used when the focus is on the action. It is not important or not known; however, who or what is performing the action.

Example: My bike was stolen.

In the example above, the focus is on the fact that my bike was stolen. I do not know, however, who did it.

Sometimes a statement in passive is more polite than active voice, as the following example shows:

Example: A mistake was made.

In this case, I focus on the fact that a mistake was made, but I do not blame anyone (e.g. You have made a mistake.).

Form of Passive

Subject + finite form of to be + Past Participle (3rd column of irregular verbs)

Example: A letter was written.

When rewriting active sentences in passive voice, note the following:

the object of the active sentence becomes the subject of the passive sentence the finite form of the verb is changed (to be + past participle) the subject of the active sentence becomes the object of the passive sentence

(or is dropped)

Examples of Passive

Tense Subject Verb ObjectSimple Present

Active: Rita writes a letter.Passive: A letter is written by Rita.

Simple Past Active: Rita wrote a letter.

Page 27: Portafolio ingles

Passive: A letter was written by Rita.Present Perfect

Active: Rita has written a letter.Passive: A letter has been written by Rita.

Future I Active: Rita will write a letter.Passive: A letter will be written by Rita.

Hilfsverben Active: Rita can write a letter.Passive: A letter can be written by Rita.

Examples of Passive

Tense Subject Verb ObjectPresent Progressive

Active: Rita is writing a letter.Passive: A letter is being written by Rita.

Past Progressive

Active: Rita was writing a letter.Passive: A letter was being written by Rita.

Past Perfect Active: Rita had written a letter.Passive: A letter had been written by Rita.

Future II Active: Rita will have written a letter.Passive: A letter will have been written by Rita.

Conditional I Active: Rita would write a letter.Passive: A letter would be written by Rita.

Conditional II Active: Rita would have written a letter.Passive: A letter would have been

writtenby Rita.

Passive Sentences with Two Objects

Rewriting an active sentence with two objects in passive voice means that one of the two objects becomes the subject, the other one remains an object. Which object to transform into a subject depends on what you want to put the focus on.

Subject Verb Object 1 Object 2Active: Rita wrote a letter to me.Passive: A letter was written to me by Rita.Passive: I was written a letter by Rita.

.

As you can see in the examples, adding by Rita does not sound very elegant. That’s why it is usually dropped.

Personal and Impersonal Passive

Page 28: Portafolio ingles

Personal Passive simply means that the object of the active sentence becomes the subject of the passive sentence. So every verb that needs an object (transitive verb) can form a personal passive.

Example: They build houses. – Houses are built.

Verbs without an object (intransitive verb) normally cannot form a personal passive sentence (as there is no object that can become the subject of the passive sentence). If you want to use an intransitive verb in passive voice, you need an impersonal construction – therefore this passive is called Impersonal Passive.

Example: he says – it is said

Impersonal Passive is not as common in English as in some other languages (e.g. German, Latin). In English, Impersonal Passive is only possible with verbs of perception (e. g. say, think, know).

Example: They say that women live longer than men. – It is said that women live longer than men.

Although Impersonal Passive is possible here, Personal Passive is more common.

Example: They say that women live longer than men. – Women are said to live longer than men.

The subject of the subordinate clause (women) goes to the beginning of the sentence; the verb of perception is put into passive voice. The rest of the sentence is added using an infinitive construction with 'to' (certain auxiliary verbs and that are dropped).

Sometimes the term Personal Passive is used in English lessons if the indirect object of an active sentence is to become the subject of the passive sentence.

IN A HURRY

That is something which we will not forget in a hurry.

No country can overcome problems of this kind in a hurry.

IN A GOOD

I was a good student, but I never was very good at math.

We need to focus on the things we are good at and where we have the advances.

IN COMMON

I will be donning a red plastic nose in common with everyone else.

An adequate response can be achieved only if all of us join forces in a common strategic approach.

IN CASE OF

In case of a higher surrounding temperature, more attention should be paid.

Mediation potential will be available in case of disagreement

IN PARTICULAR

This debate has raised in particular the issue of the freedom of the press in Tunisia.

More women have been elected, in particular at the local level.

IN GENERAL

This is a mockery of students and society in general.

My second point concerns cost-efficiency or efficiency in general.

OUT OF WORK

People with disabilities are more likely to be out of work than their non-disabled counterparts.

Page 33: Portafolio ingles

The majority of the participants have been out of work for months.

OUT OF BREATH

You feel a little out of breath if you work hard or walk rapidly.

If you're too out of breath to talk, you're doing too much.

OUT OF THE QUESTION

For the moment, any such individual transport is out of the question.

Without stability and development in Africa, global peace and prosperity are out of the question.

OUT OF DATE

The consumption of illegal, out of date and poor quality products has become a public health issue.

Risk information is out of date by the time it is reported.

IN DANGER

Otherwise, the lives of keepers are in danger.

The first responsibility of guards must be to help people in danger.

IN CONTROL

In a trafficking situation, women are not in control of their lives; they have no choice and are acting under pressure.

It also lays down the quality requirements for laboratories participating in control programs

IN SIGHT

There's hardly any shade, and no water in sight.

Perhaps a couple of toys are in sight.

IN TROUBLE

In such a world, countries that rely on importing virtual water could be in trouble.

The world economy is in trouble and the cure will be very long term.

IN ORDER

Page 34: Portafolio ingles

We have branched out into new fields in order to promote technologies.

It also has a need to do so, in order to receive accurate and timely data.

IN USE

There are hundreds of audio and video codecs in use today.

The control solution is for use outside the body.
