score of42.Morris almost bagged the Low Gross honors aswell but was edged out by eight handicapper Ben Cass whorecorded a 41.
SELLNER SETS ALL TIME ATAGRECORD!
Twenty eight handicapper Craig Sellner, after beingchallenged the prior week, made a definitive personal statement to
the field on this day by setting the all time ATAG record forhighscore with a61. Notwithstanding that it was from the backtees, and that a twenty eight handicapper had no business beingback there,it was the first time anyone has ever been able to breakthe 60 barrier. The record is expected to stand for some time.
TYBER HAS SOLE BIRDIE ASCONSOLATION!The gold tees made the birdie making a lot tougher for all of theplayers except for three handicapper Andy Tyber who added
to his collective total with a birdie on # 5, giving him a total of 15for the year and the current leader of the Birdie Club. The birdiewas apparently his only highlight in that he was unable to take
advantage of his competitive edge from the back tees asevidenced by his season high score of9 over.
OTHER TIDBITS
The last group finished just before dark and the playersgathered again on the porch to await the results and enjoy the
beautiful evening, with many opting to dine on the fine cuisineof the Mens Grill.
While there was no true shot of the day to report, the
players unanimously voted to give honorary recognition to all ofthe players on Team 3 who collectively managed to elude victory
by dropping four shots on the last holegoing from a winningscore of 8 under to a skating score of 4 under, thereby
making them the first recipients of the new Chokers Award.
Making cameo appearances on the porch and staying tosocialize with the players were Ron Majors and Russ Jobson.
Rick Eaton and Guy Thomson also made a brief cameo stop on theporch on their way to the Mens Grill after completing a
non sanctioned 9 hole round.
The Commissioner revealed that it was actually Doug
Healy who had suggested several times and finally convinced theCommissioner that one ATAG match should be played fromthe tips just for a change of pace. Healy later agreed that it may
not have been such a good idea as he opened his round withback to back triple bogeys and finished with a 49.
Thats it for this week. See you next week when we go back tothe blue tees but have to tackle the more difficult back nine.Look for the Call For Players on Monday. THERE ARE ONLY 5MORE MATCHES IN THE 2006 SEASON!
