MULYAN PUBLIC SCHOOL NEWSLETTER Dear Parents, The term seems to be flashing by and there is still a lot to do. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to so much during the term. It is great to know that our students and the school are so well supported and that we are able to run as many successful programs because of this. During the last two weeks of this term, we have set aside for Parent/Teacher Interviews. This is a great opportunity for you to talk to your child’s teacher about their progress, their behaviour, their attitude and what will be happening during the remainder of the 2015 school year. Please take the opportunity to come up and discuss with your child’s teacher all these important things. A note regarding times, dates etc will be sent home during this week. Festival of International Understanding Last week was the Cowra Festival of International Understanding. This year’s country was South Korea. Our school participated in the street window displays which were absolutely spectacular. Hopefully, you got the chance to see them. Our infants display in Shoes for You window gained first place and our Stage 2 and 3 displays in the Hello World Travel window were awarded Highly Commended. Congratulations to all the boys and girls who did such great work. Thank you to Mrs Murphy, Mrs Lynch, Mrs Morgan and Mrs Cummings who put them together and displayed them so beautifully. Thank you to Hello World Travel and Shoes for You for allowing us the use of their windows. Our school was also involved in the Festival Parade and the students looked a treat as they marched with their sunnies on and dancing “Gangnam Style” (when the fire trucks allowed it). Thank you to all the boys and girls who came along and joined the parade and to Mrs Cummings, Mrs Murray and Mrs Murphy who accompanied the students and Mrs Lynch who took photos of our students. Check out our Facebook page! Regional Swimming Carnival Last Friday, 17 students from our school attended the Regional Swimming Carnival in Dubbo. Our students all performed really well and were a credit to themselves, this school and their families. They all gave 100% and can be rightly proud of their efforts. As a result of these trials, the following students will be representing the Western Region at the State Carnival on the 25th- 26th March at Homebush. Congratulations and good luck to Hugh Gillham, Zoe Browne, Pat Dun, Sam Dun and Bobby Jeffries. Boys’ Cricket This Thursday, the boys’ cricket team will play in the first round PSSA Knockout match against Canowindra Public School. I know that Mr Ryan and the boys have been training hard and are looking forward to this match. Good Luck! Hockey Gala Day On Friday, 20th March, our Stage 3 students are all invited to take part in a Hockey Gala Day here in Cowra. Representatives from Hockey NSW, along with local hockey players will teach the students from all the Cowra schools in skills development and some games. It doesn’t matter if the students have played hockey before or not. This will be a great way to meet other students and pick up some skills. All the students need is a great attitude and a mouth guard. All other equipment can be supplied by the school ie hockey sticks, shin pads. Mouth guards can be purchased from the school for $5 and are suitable for all sports. Notes with further information should already have been sent out. School uniform At the November P&C meeting last year, it was decided that the girls’ uniform would be altered slightly. This change will be phased in over the next 2 years so that you do not need to go to the added expense of purchasing new uniforms. The slight change is that the Primary students girls’ winter uniform will now not have a bib. However, Infants girl’s uniforms will still retain the bib. As outlined earlier, this will be phased in and so, if your daughter still fits into her old winter uniform then this will still be suitable until 2017. Year 6—7 This week, ‘Expression of Interest’ forms are being sent home with all Year 6 students regarding their placement into High School for 2016. Along with Term 1~ Week 7 www.
